I would go with former military on a momentary relapse of the time he used to have power over hundreds and now has power over an FO, 2 FAs and a jumpseater.

The majority of ex-military airline pilots aren't like that at all...they got out, remember? The real power-hungry types stick around to collect their stars.

I agree, taking liquids through security is a must for me... I carry around a gallon or two of milk at all times just in case I get thirsty in the cockpit.

The CA had probably just watched another rerun of his all time favorite on his layover, and so was all primed to break out the inquisition on the next presumed "airline pilot guy" impersonator that tried to hop a free ride to MIA (or wherever you were heading).

Good idea. I think I'm going to start taking a wagon filled with gallons of water through security just to make out-of-uniform people jealous.
