Just curious as to what a typical schedule is on the Saab out of IAH. Average # of legs, days off, etc. Any Jr. manning or getting shipped off to New England? Info is appreciated, thanks...............

 

i dont think they bring the iah guys up to the northeast much or at all i know two fo's down there who have never been to the northeast

 

Typically min 10 days off max 16. Most 12-13. Legs average about 5-6, most i've seen is 9, sometimes as low as 2. Junior Manning occurs in cycles.

 

What about TYR crew? Are you guys still hiring street captains? What's the chance of a street captain getting TYR?

 

And to add to this, what are the chances of a new FO getting IAH or TYR? posted mins are 600/100, but what gets an interview?

 

All hiring right now is for the Q in the northeast. I have heard that it will be at least a few months before another SAAB class.

As far as a street CA in TYR. We have 7 lines up there right now and none are open at this time. You may have a better chance on IAH but since you seniority would be so low to other CA's and upgrading FO's you would work reserve lines and stand up's...not the best at all.

 

It is usualy a cold day is dispatch for them to have a crew member cross the Masson Dixon Line. If your in the CoEx system the ususaly will not let you work USAir. As for hiring, well can you fog a mirror?

 

Ugh...9 legs in ONE DAY!?!? You guys are DEFINITELY not paid enough for that!

 

Anyone have an example of a typical schedule of IAH legs? Are they out and backs, I had heard there are some overnights? Usual days on / off? What is the average time you are crediting per month? I'm interested in staying in Houston, but have something on the side that I will be continuing with, hence the scheduling question. Just want to see if Colgan is a feasible option for me.

 

There is no "average" time in IAH. There are 34 lines for next month and they range from 14-15 days off with 85 hours block to 10 days off and 25 hours block to reserve lines. There are some out and backs but most are 3-4 day trips once you have some seniority. Do not worry about the 9 leg thing...rare to see it. Most of the time you are doing 4-7 legs and it is not too much. You do quick turns and usually keep one engine turning and these airports you get in and out easy so no stress.

Keep in mind that you may not get IAH from the start and have to put some time in somewhere else. Then when you do get it you will have crap lines while building seniority. There will be days when you come in for two legs and that is it and days you do a standup and that is it. IAH is not best place to go from the start. Go somewhere and fly and build your senority up and then when it is good enough to hold a decent IAH line ( 8 months or so) then bid it. As an FO you need to fly to get hours and sitting reserve is not the best thing.
