How to deal with a control freak?
#52
joke was over my head i guess-I got assigned not to long ago with a new guy to do some IOE type training and the guy totally blew me away at some of his responses when I would correct him on things or give helpful hints-There are alot of people out there that think that just because they pased a check ride in a SIM that they know how to actually fly the JET in the real world.

It amuses me to see that you somehow thought I was attacking you. Maybe you should "read. breath. repeat"
I in no way intended my post to be against you, just giving a little info on an experience I had.
I agree with what you say that this could be used with the captain mentioned but relax man, it was nothing against you.

I'm pretty thick skinned.Be aware that using caps is like shouting, just in case you didn't know. That's why I made the "Breathe" comment. Your post sounded more like you were telling meeko that my post was bad advice, rather than explaining how it was used on you once and you found it irritating. That made me think you didn't understand that I intended for that little technique only for that situation, not for F/O's to use in general.
We all are entitled to our differing opinions!
Hey, good debate and bad spelling is what this forum is all about!

Hey I think I know that guy. CJC???
The best thing to do is talk it out. (on the ground or in cruise). I have had Captains like that in the past and have gotten into a tight spot or two due to preaching on final. If you are flying per the book, well no worries. It is the Captains airplane, however, sometimes these folks need a reality check. I had to tell a Captain to "lock it up" until we were on the ground. Funny thing was it worked. Everyones different. If all else fails bid a different line. Those people are few and far between! Good Luck

HMMMMMMM....Maybe I am wrong.
Also, as a fellow Saab guy, having to increase airspeed should not be an issue at all on final while stacked in traffic. I find myself having to slow for traffic all the time because the Saab has the ability to slow down and speed up quickly down low in the terminal enviroment. Maybe I am wrong but after 2 years in the Saab you should be a rock star in that thing waiting for upgrade..why have you not upgraded yet?

Maybe my memory is wrong but is this the 2nd thread you have started about CA's having to comment on your flying?

yeah youre right, the first time was just a fluke! I cut the approach short without letting him know of my intentions (like what I said, Im not perfect) That was my fault. I flew with that same captain 2 days later and everything was smooth.(first posting you are referring to). He even had dinner while we were in cruise so I think he trusted me after that.
Anyone here reading this post and you work at MQ,(this should answer your upgrade question) pm me and I'll give you the captain's name so you can justify my madness! OH well I fly with this dude tomorrow so we'll see how it turns out!

You know I always find it amusing flying with different people. I've spent a lot time on rsv and I bid RLF and CMP so I can get my day trips. Your at Eagle too, so you know its a huge company and you get to fly with people from all over the country. Its funny but, I noticed the capts are that are the most uptight are the ones closest to the company's main hub DFW ORD. Most of the guys in LGA BOS are laid back. I hear LAX is the same. I wonder what it is about being close to company headquarters makes people like that. Some of the best captains I've flown with are TWA. Hands down. I have only had one captain that I won't fly with again. Interesting but, his trips are always open, wonder why?? Too bad, because this month his got hot FA, poor girl hahe. There are few of the"nervous flyers", FAA capts, etc out there. As long as they are nice and considerate I don't care, I'll play their game. I would say for the most part they are all pretty good. Most let me fly the airplane and I tell them that if something looks off, let me know. I will say flying with somebody like that is definitly a confidence killer. You feel like your on egg shells all the time.
