Default Airline Clubs

Just wondering if anyone has ever been in any of the airline clubs that they have at the major airports such as United's Red Carpet Club, American's Admiral Club and so on. Not that I would or could afford it, but I heard they are pretty expensive to join. I think they should be free for flight crews, maybe a better place to relax from the hustle and bustle of a busy terminal. Any thoughts or opinions would be great.

The USO in terminal B at DFW is pretty chill. I'd chose to hang out there before the Admiral's club.

Just get an American Express gold. Free meals, nice chairs, completely worth it if you're in an airport a lot. I never really spend much time in the actual airport so I don't do it anymore but in the past I traveled all over the world and the Amex card, cost $150 a year I think, got me in everywhere and was completely worth it.

Yeah but how would you be able to get in without a membership?

Working for Virgin Atlantic, we would sell the Upper Class Lounge for $50 per Pax...of course, they would have to be appropriately dressed. A nice perk of the job as well, was the ability to use it when I found myself traveling

$300 a year for United Red Carpet club access. I agree, flight crews should get some kind of break but I think that would detract from the quiet nature of these clubs for passengers if it turned into a crew hang-out.

Yep, i could see a crew lounge totally removing any "class" from the place....last thing we need is a bunch of pilots and flight attendants sleeping on the couches with their shoes off.

Dleta had a special price for employees but you can not be in the club with Uniform on.

"I think they should be free for flight crews"

They don't want employees in the lounges.

Best $250/yr I spend is for Alaska Air's lounge membership. I travel enough that's it's very worthwhile. I believe the fine print prohibits "uniformed airline employees", though. It's not hard to take the strips and clip on off and put the ID in my pocket.

Default Groucho on club membership

I sent the club a wire stating, PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER.
