these are all people that dont know how to make money!
you know if you burn an extra 10 to 15 minutes on approach and taxi, maybe you guys would actually afford to buy lunch at the airport instead of pack it with you
just kidding... no really im just kidding

I wish. Our flights are so overblocked, you can't make money if you try. I flew from PHL-BDL at under 250 knots and still came in under block. Its not worth trying for us, just get there and get done so you can have time get out of the airplane.

250 knots on downwind past the airport for miles. Then, the instant they slow 1 knot below the placarded slat (if applicable) speed limitation, they throw out the 1st notch and maintain that speed. Then they'll incoherently follow and fly the flap and gear placards the same way (precisely 1 knot less) until level at the top of approach altitude, fully configured miles outside the final approach fix with engines spooled up to 80%....”?

Yeah, that first one is just a waste of gas. But keeping it clean and fast to just outside the FAF and then bringing the power to idle and throwing all the flaps/slats out is pretty common (provided it's VMC and there aren't any other factors that would make you want to keep the engines spooled up). It usually works out that you're right at Ref+5 and adding the power back right around 500'...at least in the CRJ.
