RJet QOL
I know quality of life varies from person to person, but generally speaking how do you guys working for RJet like working there? How much time are new hires spending on reserve? Also, when do you have to sign the 2 yr training agreement? I would assume you would sign on the first day of class. Thanks in advance!

The company website is www.rjet.com, hence the rjet reference.

question for RAH guys
Hey guys, just curious. Say your on the E170. When you bid your lines are you locked into flying for US Air, or SA, or F9 express for the month. Basically can one trip have you flying on multiple certificates. You know, little Usair express on day one, then some shuttle america flying with some F9flying mixed. Always interested how that worked.

No. You are hired based on the certificate. Shuttle and Republic have some different procedures and you can not jump back and forth between them. You're either on shuttle, or republic.
The only way you can change certificates is if you are going for an increase in pay. IE: FO at republic and you can hold captain at shuttle, you can upgrade to shuttle. However, you can not do that in the right seat because the payscale is the same for all types.

To the original poster - I have been pretty happy here despite the whole commuting thing. If I had to pick any one thing I dislike about my job, that would be it. The money has been good enough for my single self to develop a savings and live comfortably (despite the fact that it was on 1st and now 2nd year FO pay), I haven't had too many run-ins with scheduling, and I've gotten along with everyone I've flown with with one single exception. Some people get here and love it...others get here and hate it. I guess it all depends on your personal situation. However, even the people that do complain about working here still like their job.

Life here at RAH is very different if you live in base. I live in CMH, and my QOL is awesome. I do mostly out-and-back pairings. I've done one overnight in each of the past two months. I'm home with the wife a lot, which is good for me. The reason things are a lot different here for commuters is because lots of our bases are outstations (CMH, GSO, IND, BUF to name some) which often times have pairings that begin at 6am and end at 10pm. These types are not friendly with commuting. Thus you spend extra days away, waiting for a commute home. If you end up on the S5 or RW certificates, you have more commutable options in PHL, DCA, ATL, ORD. The CHQ certificate has a couple of hub bases in STL, CVG, and LGA, but the trips out of CVG are terrible. Nobody gets more than 12-13 days off. STL has the most productive trips in the system. Anyway, enough of my rambling. I'm happy here, and my QOL is great.
