PSA Hiring

I'm just finishing up at ATP and will be instructing for at least a few months. I'm getting married in June and want to end up at PSA and be based in Knoxville. I'm at least instructing through June but want to move on as soon as possible after that. I should have at least 450TT and 175 Multi by then.

I know what their published mins are but what is PSA actually hiring at?
Plus do people know how senior Knoxville is?

Thanks

KDUA 01-19-2008 02:32 PM

Hi,
They hired a guy with 270 tt and 40 multi.

Oblique 01-19-2008 03:46 PM

I've heard that a lot of people have been failing out in training. Their mins are still the same, but they prefer applicants with at least 100 multi.

rthompsonjr 01-19-2008 04:24 PM

Cool so I should be middle of the pack by the time I get there.

Thanks for the help

ksatflyer 01-19-2008 07:16 PM

When i got hired I had 900 TT and 8 hours multi, I was an instructor for about a year and half before interviewing with them and I passed my Sim checkride just 2 hours ago, got LOFT tomorow. There were 3 guys in my indoc class that had less than 300 hours and they were NOT ATP guys, just regular FBO trained guys, they all 3 passed up to their orals at least, only 1 guy failed out before our oral and he was prior 135 so go figure, its not PSAs training, I thought pretty highly of it myself. Now, where youll stay in training is a totally different story, I believe there is a current forum on that right now as well haha. Anyways, about the low time guys simulator training, they just starte yesterday so no word on their progress yet but they were all three pretty sharp in ground school.

We have hired as low as 300 and a new multi ticket depending on the applicant. The longer you wait to apply the more senioirty you lose. CFI's tend to do a bit better from my experience. Knoxville is a great base and you usually move fast up the list there because everyone wants charlotte.

Did you do the bridge course? If so you will do just fine.

rthompsonjr 01-20-2008 09:14 AM

I haven't but if I instruct at ATP for 300 hrs its free, so I'll probably do it.

bradeku1008 01-20-2008 09:44 AM

I interviewd the 16th with 650TT and 38ME with a CFI. Made it all the way through the interview and did well on the sim and am now praying for a phone call this week. I know of a guy who interviewed on the 15th and got the call on Friday, so I think that the people who went on the 16th will get it on Monday if they made it.The people who will do your interview are great and alot of fun. Have a good time in the interview I think they are looking not only for a good pilot but a fun person to work with. But the company looks like it is growing. I even told them I would base in Dayton and stay there (I already live there).... So that has to account for something?

Blueskies21 01-20-2008 02:37 PM

Brad,
Your times are really close to mine, if you did alright in the sim I'd expect the call monday. I'd guess they are still hiring for the feb 4 class..if so I'll see you there.

rthompsonjr 01-20-2008 03:20 PM

What are they saying about how much they are going to hire the rest of the year?

Are they also giving the option of class dates? I'm hoping it would be possible to interview in may and get a class date right after my wedding so I can get right to it.

seafeye 01-20-2008 04:39 PM

Two biggest mistakes you can make in life....

1) Becoming a Pilot.

2) Getting Married.

Hiring 40 pilots a month right now. I think they are going to be doing that the rest of the year. I intervied and let them know that I couldn't start until May because I still have to finish college. So you can get your interview out of the way, and let them know when you can start.

Have you considered trying to graduate early, the university I went to was always really good about working with guys to get the course work done so they could leave early...senority counts...

seafeye 01-21-2008 02:02 PM

So does spelling....seniority....

av8tr_2007 01-21-2008 02:14 PM

They are hiring like crazy right now. I see about twenty comming in every week now. Who knows how long this will go on for. I would hurry and get in here if I were you.

bradeku1008 01-21-2008 04:01 PM

Just got the call today. Can't wait to start.

rthompsonjr 01-21-2008 04:08 PM

Congrats! Hopefully I'll join you in a few months.

When's your class date?

Thanks. Dont know when my exact date is though, I cant start until May so they are going to let me know the day in May when it gets set. All I know is that May cant come sooner.

rthompsonjr 01-21-2008 05:37 PM

I'm glad to see they worked with your start date, I'll probably apply as soon as I hit 300 and try to get a mid June start then.

BigFellor 01-23-2008 04:15 PM

For what its worth, I was hired on at PSA as a Dispatcher back in June. Since then, I am seeing FO's with employee numbers 150+ above mine, and FO's who were in my class (mid-June) in the right seat on the 700s.

cfii2007 01-23-2008 04:31 PM

Do they have a training contract?

BigFellor 01-23-2008 05:00 PM

Sorry for the ignorance, but what do you mean by a training contract? I got paid what I was hired at while in training, but as I said, I'm a dispatcher, not a pilot, yet. Also as far as Dayton goes, about the only good thing about living here if you get DAY as a base is the cost of living. Its cheap to live here. Other than that, there isn't much to write home about. I've been here all my 26 years and cant wait to leave. It snows too much, and gets too cold for my tastes.

No, as far as the contract goes.

As far as the hiring goes, we plan on hiring 250 pilots between now and May.

By the way, if you are coming to class soon, get caught up on your sleep now!!:D

cfii2007 01-24-2008 02:31 PM

Some regionals make you sign a training contract stipulating if you quit before a certain period of time, you must reimburse them for the cost of training.

BigFellor 01-26-2008 10:59 AM

Ahhh, makes sense now. Couldn't tell you on that one, dont have much reason to pay attention to the contracts of the pilots at the moment.

Flyboyrw 01-28-2008 07:08 PM

how long is the reserve wait.
thanks.

av8tr_2007 01-29-2008 06:38 AM

Its hard to say. CLT = forever. Things change all the time though especially with some many people comming in at once.

The rumor is that upgrade is looking about a year and a half.

floyd78 01-29-2008 06:54 AM

Any growth on the horizon or just to fill attrition? I interview there tomorrow...Either way works for me I want to get into Dayton as I can drive it...Hope the written hasn't changed yet! :D:D

I did the same thing at the beginning of January. I got an email saying that my resume was received, but I've heard nothing since then. I am wondering the same thing that you are.

floyd78 01-29-2008 02:27 PM

It took several weeks to get the mass e-mail invite...They have all kinds of issues with there e-mail system. We I replied back after the invite I sent it to 3 different e-mails and 2 were kicked back. I would fax and mail also to be sure they got it. I'm sitting on 960/100 so you will here back!

Blueskies21 01-29-2008 02:29 PM

You get the automated response first and then a couple weeks later they send you an invite to interview, don't worry about it. Be sure to read the gouge when you get assigned an interview...

ridejumpfly 01-29-2008 04:47 PM

I was invited twice but could not go due to my USAF sched. I haven't been invited again yet.. Did I miss my chance? Should I call or wait longer?

PMeyer 01-29-2008 07:11 PM

check your spam folder, may have gotten lost in there, keep it cleaned up so you dont have to sort thru so much junk if you are expecting an important response

MD11 01-30-2008 04:40 AM

Thank you all very much for the responses. I'll get my info faxed.
Btw,,, applied with Republic and recieved an email saying they would contact me to set up an interview... pretty quick response.

PMeyer, you're a genius!! I checked my spam folder and there it was!! Fortunately, they only sent the email yesterday, so it wasn't sitting in there for ages...

I owe you a beer if I go to work for PSA!

PMeyer 02-01-2008 06:41 PM

Glad it worked out for you!

Flyboyrw 02-05-2008 08:45 PM
