I am going to BOS so EMB. Yeah I don't have a problem with ATC instructions copying or issuing clearances, EDCT's, anything ATC I have had to deal with.
The sim time was while I was working at Southwest in ground ops. I went to pilot training to check it out and ended up flying the -700 around LAX some ILS and visual approaches. The -800 was at ATOP (Airline training oreintation Program) at COA pilot training at Houston. It is a weekend of fun. First day is 10 hours of ground going over systems, normal and non normal procedures, start procedures and FTD for startup. Second day you wake up real early and fly a pre briefed profile. 2 ILS approahes, first VMC second IMC (300 and 2). V1 cuts, other random emergancies. I had an engine fire at 90kts, simple window overheat (reset switch to reset thermostat) and in the right seat I had a engine failure, complete hydro failure. Its 1 hour PF/PNF 1 hour observing. After the Sim I took the option to get the high altitude sign off so we did CBT a video and emergancy descent after rapid decompression in the FTD. I think it was a huge help. Not too much money. The ATOP if you bring a partner is only 450 each for the sim and ground and 125 more for the HA endorsment. |

Got the call. I am going to flight safety on March 3rd in VRB for the RJ oreintation course. I am looking forward to the RJ course for some extra sim time in the 145 but it is unpaid so thats a long time with no paycheck.
Start ground in DFW on the 31st of March. |
I thought they were sending people that didn't meet the TT mins to the orientation course, not anybody that does meet the mins. Hmm not a bad idea I guess.. get familiar with the aircraft before the training itself won't hurt.
Thanks for the info about the sim time. Good luck! |
I think I know you ridejumpfly...interviewed on the 11th? You might know me better as "Crash".
I'll be in Vero Beach for the class on the 3rd. |
Pontius! "Crash" LOL. Awesome I will see you there. So you know if anyone else will be there from our class? How did your employer take the news?
Send me an email I have some inside info for VRB. Mine is [email protected] |

Do a *7/employee# for most of the newhires coming through the schoolhouse now. The avg time is about 400TT. This is the supply/demand dynamic of the industry. They all go through the same checkride as we did, so kudos to all those who make it online.

theres a lot of us in my class that "tried" to bring the average up. ;-)

Let me get this straight. You JUST got hired with AE, not even at training yet, and you already have a callsign of "Crash"? This does not bode well for you my friend...
Crash was a temporary nickname given to me for, shall we say, my initial inability to place the F100 on the ground in a horizontal manner. Thankfully landings are not graded...nor should they be! I was a bit more concerned flying the ILS than I was with what altitude I should flare at. 10 feet is apparently not adequate! Works for a 172, but not something that weighs 44 times a 172. |
