Colgan interview LGA 2/11/08

Sucks to be you.
That the thing- Colgan's Pilots get blaster for operating the Q at those HORRIBLE rates, but no one says anything about Mesaba flying the 900 for terrible rates either.
And why...because Mesaba has ALPA? They're pulling down the industry, just like all other 900 operators, just like Colgan.
You're stealing flying from mainline...SCAB!

Colgan is highering at some low-low times, but that doesn't make it easier to get through training, does it? I would imagine that this is where they will wash out some of these low time pilots. Do they just figure they'll get lucky and catch a 200 TT guy that just has good skills?

I dont have a dog in this fight, but just so its clear how low Colgan is hiring... after hearing about their pilot development program I emailed someone in HR and they said my times(multi) werent enough for the program... so they arent stooping down to the 200TT guys quite yet, unless they are just looking for anyone with 50 multi and dont care about TT (I'm 400/25)

I've been hearing a lot about Colgan and their payrates with the Q, etc. etc. but What about Lynx?? I havn't heard much there - they are non union, are they working to get a union on property? Not wanting to stir the pot but I"m interested in how this all shakes out. Do people think the frontier stuff has any future? Are they getting a break from criticism since they are a startup and colgan is not?

It seems there are three categories of airlines on these forums, the "golden three" i.e. Republic, Skywest, Xjet (we know you guys are all rock stars..
) - The relatively anonymous / or flavor of the week (popular one day, not great the next but good job you guys, you've made it as pilots!
) and then rounding out the bottom are the TSA's, Colgans, and most distantly Mesa and GoJet which many will say, if you MUST - don't stay, or don't go period. (you're either unlucky, puncing your ticket for greener pastures, or DANG YOU SCREWED UP!
)
In reality all are regionals with their issues - steppings stones but if you get stuck, there are some you could have a livable career with and others would be pure hell. Just my take but individual mileage may vary at ANY CARRIER. But I guess there is some merit to it, just taken with a grain of salt.

Colgan pride is so annoying.

You are incorrect N2. It was an unbiased post as a moderator and not a colgan pilot. You would probably be surprised to know that I hardly moderate any colgan threads. It was a statement simply saying that if this thread continues to stray far right off target it will be closed just like every other thread that does the same on here. Whether it be a UPS, FDX, XJet, United or other, if it strays it goes.
So quick to judge something you have no facts on.

I've had enough....
We used to have a lot of Jetblue bashing at this site. We got rid of a couple people and it changed the whole tone of the JetBlue threads.
People can post their opinion about Colgan to their hearts content, here, but I've had it with the level of disrespect, one liners, and flamebait. We expect a higher standard from APC users than what I'm starting to see here.
If you have something to contribute, do so in a professional manner and with the level of respect you'd show in a face to face converstion. If you can't do that, you'd be better off just not posting.
Thanks for your help.
