The regionals always have been and always will be a stepping stone. Experience is experience and the majors will take it. However there is no doubt in my mind that military preference is given by EVERYONE. Ask Ghilis on here what his times were when he was hired at Kalitta. Try almost 3,000hrs below mins. Ask SW guys or Delta guys. Of course there are always going to be regional guys moving on up, but if you want to get your resume bumped up a few notches military service is definitely a great way to go. Majors hire "everyone" because they need pilots and they need them now. However when hiring is slim I don't expect to be chosen over anyone with military experience unless I have something else to bring to the table like international/heavy time. Of course ghilis will beat me there too. Bastard!

Can we get ourselves out?
Wow---there is one person out there who can figure it out. Paxhauler... you pretty much summed up my post in terms that some of these other guys can understand. How does SWA and their fares have anything to do with USAirways charging $79 to go from PHL-DAY?

Since you seem to have all the answers, maybe you should run for ALPA president. You can tell ASA they sold out for a crappy contract. You can convince TSA, Pinnacle and Mesa management that pilots deserve more and you won't stand for anything less than what YOU feel is right. That has worked out real well in the past few years, ie Comair.

Why is USAir pay so low? I know, people like me who are lining up for that job. Republic has some CA rates higher on the 190 than USAir. People start at USAir for $25/hr, why aren't you going off on them? What about Skybus? You must be a fool to think that people won't fly for less no matter what. You can make all of the rude, ignorant comments all you want. Nothing will ever change people from going to the gojets and mesas of the world. Our pay frustrates me as well. Not nearly as much as you to where I have to make ignorant comments about it. No one on this forum is happy with our pay, except Tony Williams!
