I've come across numerous people who were thinking about applying to Mesa/GoJets etc, and had no clue about the rep their prospective airline...you can make the argument that they didnt do their research etc. I'm no GoJet advocate by any means, but they're people too (people make mistakes), and they deserved to be treated with some sort of human dignity.

Nothing personal but this argument holds no water. If those people want to be treated like professionals, they ought to act like professionals and a professional knows what he/she is stepping into. I didn't accept my very first job at McDonald's without doing some research and or talking to people that worked there.

When I see them, I just ignore them.

I'm not in the airline industry yet...but are GoJets guys really ostrasized as social pariahs like you guys really make it out to be? Do you know of anybody who has actually verbally said anything to these guys? Do you guys know of any actual confrontations?
Yeh, they do get picked on some, ignored more. Kinda like the kid in the corner who no-one wants to talk to, so they typically just hide away. You could almost feel sorry for the guys and try to talk to them, then you remember that they made their bed, now they can sleep in it.

Another note, this board has a decent cross-section of the airline industry down. Just about someone from every regional airline is on here somewhere. And with the exception of a few gojetters and a couple "anti-union" guys, just about everyone agrees on what these guys are....and that alone should tell you something.

100% yes to all three questions. Once you get into the industry you will quickly see what everyone is talking about.

there is a reason they hide their ID badges when they're inside the terminal.

I disagree. While I think that Skybus pilots are completely underselling our profession, they did not join an alter ego carrier.

Default Second that...

But a few of the scum jet guys did go over there....DT comes to mind... And a few others... And I can vouch for a few incidences where A. A scum jet was NOT hired, and B. A few verbal altercations and refusal of jumpseats... I was there for both... No second hand info....And it was GREAT!

most of them ride on non rev passes, or never go up and say hi in the cockpit.

I work for TSA and i was trying to commute from BDL-ORD on Mesa and told the captain that i worked for TSA, not TSA HOLDINGS and he went thru the scab list like, 10 times, asked me a bunch of questions, to make sure i wasn't working for go jets, as well before letting me on
