heeey i got a buddy in the 3/31 class named mike he is pretty cool you should partner up with him he is a good guy.. good luck in class man!
1 class starting May 5th besides my class wich started today(3/31) and then that is going to be it for a while they told us today, until they further review there staffing needs. Fuel costs are the reason they say. Looks like besides the may 5th class I'm at the bottom of the seniority list for a while, at least Im the 3rd oldest in my class.
Also for anyone that is interested my class of 10 were all assigned the 700.

That seems to be the trend with the recent newhire classes. I wonder what they are ramping up for. We have a page on the company website that shows how many people are on reserve on any given day. This month if you look at that page each day there are about 20 guys on reserve all day. We only have 37-39 700's so Im not sure why they would ever need to use even close to that number of reserve FO's. The 700 for the month of april has 129 hard lines and 165 FO's. That's at least 36 guys awarded a reserve line. I don't know, it's probably normal but at the moment we are definatley fat on FO's since I haven't flown in a week and a half and it doesn't look like Im going to hit the skies anytime soon. No biggy though, get to hang out and be a bumb. Who wouldn't want to get paid to do that?

Hey there,
Sorry for the stupid question, but if I dont ask, I wont know. What does atrition mean? I read up here that they are hiring 10/month for "atrition"..
Just not familiar with the term, still learning...
Cheers!

Attrition is in the dictionary...which is just incredibly accessible to anyone with an internet connection.
I only say that to remind you of the incredible resource you have for expanding your knowledge.
That said, attrition is people leaving the company(retirees, hired elsewhere, leaving the airline industry, moving on, etc).

Duly noted.
I gave the dictionary a shot, this is what I got:
1. A rubbing away or wearing down by friction.
2. A gradual diminution in number or strength because of constant stress.
I could've gone further, I am sure I would've come to the right definition, but one thing I've learned in these forums is that there are a lot of "aviation slang" words, might as well cut to the chase and ask in the forum, since the first two definitions didnt throw much light at me.
Anyways, thanks for clearing it out for me.
Safe flights.

Yea I've met your buddy def. a good guy. We got our systems class schedule today and only 4 out of 10 are starting systems on 4/14, everyone else got assigned a 4/28 date. Mike and I were lucky enough to have the seniority to start on the 14th. He's #2 and I'm #3. Looks like we are all going to be at the bottom of the list for a while, I hope they start running classes like they said they were.
