***** was correct to state "some." BTW, I'm not saying that Mesa pilots are bad pilots. They are not, actually I think most are better than most due to the simple fact of the BS they have to put up with (their Mgmnt, more MEL'd Eq than anyone else or none installed (GPS, ACARS, etc), CDL's, etc.). But their pilot group has THE worst TA and upper level Mgmnt team in the industry. They are second to none.

The J.A. thing is over, you can decline now.

Each crewmember gets (and has gotten) their own hotel room for about 1.5 years now.

I've called in sick several times, and never been asked a question, just marked as sick.

Other than that, your post is factual; unfourtunate as that is.

Funny because when I was there I carpet danced for calling in sick, danced again when refusing a JA and was told by the CP one night in PVD at 11pm standing in my boxers in my hotelroom to get back to the plane because the flight that crew track told me was cancelled didn't cancel and we were to ferry the plane back to JFK or look for new work.

Mesa just took me off line, because I refused to fly over 30 in 7. It was actually only day 5 that they wanted me to go over my 30 hours. I told them i couldnt go over 5 hours for the day because I was at 25 so far. They told me I was fine because it would put me at 29 and the last flight was a ferry flight which would put me over 30 but still legal. Got to the plane and found out they had me doing 3 legs to put me at 31 hours and than the ferry flight. CP told me it was my fault that I didn't make sure Tracking had the right times for me because they apparently were an hour short, and said I should have noticed it earlier. All I can say is wow....Gonna enjoy my time off and apply anywhere and everywhere else.

Sounds like you need a new chief pilot. Try calling the PHX or IAD CP. I know you're not one of their guys, but at least they could provide some rational insight when you have probs like this.

I don't understand how this stuff happens. I never hear about it, and it never happens to me; and I'm a extremely junior CA.

It used to happen to me routinely.

Take 2:

A good friend of mine just completed CRJ ground school at Mesa a couple weeks ago.

Within the first two hours of day one of ground, I received a text message from him saying, and I quote (but edited for language) "This poop is a cluster ****"

True story.

Although I’m glad to hear they've changed their hotel policies, it looks like the rest of my posting seems to be backed by many current and former Mesa pilots on this thread. Maybe it’s a single CP but it sound more like a crew support problem.

Whether this is a small minority or majority, it’s a problem, along with the rest of your TA. Please don’t get me wrong, I fully understand that you all are working hard to change it and I back all of you in your efforts.

I do question your new hires about their blind move to Mesa and I’m continually amazed that pilots, who spent so much time and money getting to where they are, jump willingly without researching first. But for those of you who are trapped in “Orenstein’s web,” I wish you the best of luck.

There is one thing that Mesa pilots have that we at SKW don't. It's an easy decision to leave! LOL! Most of the pilots I come across ,here at SKW, that are thinking about leaving seem to be having a real heard time with it. Even back when the going was good (i.e. summer 06). If you come from Mesa then any regional or major is a huge step up and an improvement in every aspect of your life.

I was agreeing with you, that with the exception of what I said, your post was correct. I am one of those current Mesa pilots.

I hear all of these terrible stories, like the ERJ pilot above. I know it is still happening, but it is far more few and far between then in previous times.

Like I said, I'm an extremely junior CA so I should be getting completely screwed, but at current, I'm not.

I had that same choice to leave about 3 months ago (to RW) and I stayed and upgraded. Tough choice. So far I don't regret it, as I am logging TPIC.
