When I went through, I started March 1 and finished IOE on May 1. That was about 4 years ago on the CRJ ORD.

From start to finish plan on 6 weeks. 8 if the sim breaks and you have to wait for your LOFT.

Living in Base is an amazing benefit. If you are looking for good QOL and Eagle has a base where you live, I would definitely look into it. Ive been on the ATR for about a year and a half and there are some great people at this company.

Note about the upgrade time: We are currently upgrading 2001 DOH(the notorious 7 year upgrade). Basically, no one was hired between Sep 2001 and Jan 2004. Those Jan, 2004 guys are about 70 number away from upgrade which im guessing is about 3-5 months away. When those guys upgrade, they will be 4 1/2 yr upgrades. I know, this still isnt the 6 month upgrade over at Compass, but I just wanted to give a little insight on the whole deal.

At the rate Eagle is at right now..how long will they be hurting for pilots with the mins at 350/50? Is ORD still the place they need pilots the most? Anything anyone can add about Eagle and commuting to ORD?

If you're coming from DFW, you can forget it.

In the past I have seen lots of AE newhires in the 40-50 year old range. Some have had 20yr military careers, or changing professions and want stability/QOL over quick upgrades. Overall the AE pilot group is very old for a regional.

jamin: Commuting to ORD can really vary. With two major airlines with big hub systems translates into a lot of options. Sometimes this makes it easier and sometimes harder (more options can mean more commuters). If you live in an Eagle CRJ base its cake since you get priority over the offliners and the CRJs are almost never weight restricted (only ever seen it once and that was a fluke).

Hope this helps, if you need something more specific let me know.

As for the age thing, expect to see younger folks as May rolls around. Plenty of people coming out of the collegiate community both as graduates and instructors coming off of contracts as the academic year comes to a close. For those waiting to apply or interview, PM me if you have any specific questions.
