If I remember correctly, before many of the new generation flyers on here started, in the early to mid 90's, just about all regional or commuters required a pay for training or pay for your job. Xpressjet, Comair, Mesa, to name a few.
I believe Eagle is the only one that did not require pay for training which is why I started there back in the 90's. I didn't agree with the theory of paying, however everyone makes there decision based on their personal reasons and pref.

Haha, its funny that out-stations can turn the plane in 20 - 30 minutes, yet its impossible to get a 45 minute turn out of a hub. Seems a lil backwards!

I see that on APC there are payscales published for FO's for Gulfstream, so how long do you pay for the job before they pay you? I'm a little confused, why would someone go here when they could go to Greatlakes and fly the same aircraft and be paid for it? I'm not trying to attack anyone I'm just trying to understand this.

As far as I understand it, a lot of guys who have 250 TT and a multi rating go there to bypass CFIing. Ive heard that the price can range from 10 grand to 30 grand depending on how their staffing levels are. After you finish training, I think you get paid like 10 bucks/hour or something till you have X number of hours, then you get regular salary that are posted on APC.

I can see how this would have been enticing a few years ago, but these days the prerequisites for their program are the same as minimums for some regionals. Sounds to me like they go for uninformed applicants.

their not getting furloughed because of economic times, they are getting fourloughed because their checks bounced!

As someone posted above, there is a difference with PFT and time building, GIA is time building.

I was wondering the same thing... It could be as little as 2 inches... 1 inch in the US --> tip toe into mexico.... Wallah! International travel has occurred..
