How Pinnacle Pilots Get a Contact
#11
And you went to colledje, took out Student lones and learned to Write like this?
Pinnacle will take over once Mesa folds as the industry's bottom feeder. That is just how the company survives. It is their primary focus in their business plan. It couldn't be more obvious.

Sorry guys. With the top tier regionals not hiring, new-hire classes are being filled again and the sim center in MEM can barely keep up. Lack of staffing will not get a new contract. Solidarity within the pilot group, and "bringing down the house" like ASA did is the only way. Or we can just keep our 100% completion factor and get our free pizza instead...

I could not agree with you more However everyone situation is different and so how can you tell the kid who is going to get a job to start paying back the student loans, car loans credit card ect ect When you can figure out a way to tell KEY Bank or Sallie Mae I dont have your money cause I just turned down a job ... well you get my point I have said it before and ill say it again, we ie Pilots are our worst enemy we talk solidarity but really we dont have any,, its all about Me I who cares about the other person.. ok rant over
along these lines, I got SOO ****ed at my FO a few weeks ago. 600 hours TT *****ing he has to sit reserve and that he cant pay of his $80,000 prestigious flight school loan. So he is going to declare bankrupcy to get around paying it. I asked him if he did the math before flight school...80,000 loan paid back at 20,000 a year salary...... He asked why I am so concerned, so I said it does concern me...when I want a student loan for myself or my kids I'm going to have to pay more for it cause of punks like you who default because they dont see the big picture. He can brag about buying a new $30,000 car tho, but can't pay back the people who gave him the opportunity for this job.
It's unfortunate that pilots are our own worst enemy. However I do know that, as much as I love aviation, I would not take a ****ty $18/hour airline job just to feed my family. I would find a new career, I am too proud and love flying too much to contribute to this downward spiral caused by shiny jet syndrome, management greed and corporate incompetence, and ME and only ME attitudes I have been experiencing more and more over the recent years.

If he can't make the payments on his flight pay, he needs to get another job on the side and work on his days off. THAT will show character and responsibilty.
If he BK's now, it will follow him for a very long time, and hinder his ability to advance his career in ANY field, not just aviation.
He better give it a lot of thought, and consult a professional (before he starts that process) and get the complete picture.

We don't need to get ****ed to slow things down. I still taxi slow, fly profile or slower, not dropping the break til the cargo door is close, take a delay because the headseat of the push crew doesn't work. This is not because i'm ****ed or out to get the company. I do it because it's safe. If we had the industry leading contract I would not change a thing.

You might remind your F/O that if he declares BK, especially for a flight training loan, it WILL come up on the credit check run by a prospective employer, and would probably down him even if everything else went well. It would reflect poorly on his judgement and ability to be responsible for his obligations.

I should have added his whole attitude sucked, its not like i dont have any sympathy for people with student loans...

You cannot escape your student loans by delcaring bankruptcy.

whatever the case may be....thats why im a pilot not a lawyer/accountant. But the point is he wanted out of his loans and screw anyone that does the right thing and pays them off, or does some research before hand.

I see... well, coming out of college, every graduate with student loans (virtually all unless mommy and daddy are rich) is required to do an exit counseling session with the school's financial aid office. Being unable to delcare bankruptcy on a student loan is one of the biggest points they make. The only way you can declare bankruptcy on a student loan is by death or disability. I suppose that doesn't prevent him from filing for bankruptcy on his other financial obligations, though. Even with that, his chances would be pretty slim I would assume.
