I think you have a good head on your shoulders, and I had been bitting my tounge about you being the pool. I really think that you should do you best to stay in contact with them and check in every once and a while. since I have been there I have never heard talk of a hiring pool. They always told me they only knew thier needs a month or two in advance. My advice to you is to explore your options and keep focused on the long run. I would greatful to have in our pilot group, but it looking like its not your turn yet.
To answer your question. I just dont know, and there are so many more SR guys on here that have been here for mulitple years with ages more experince with the company that I do. I can only really offer you speculation, today, tomorrow, the rest of the year the pilot group does not want speculation coming from the mouth of an FO. Today all I have is a gut feeling. I dont know what that means yet. Right now, I want to say and feel there will not be a forlough, at the same time I am afriad I will be proven wrong.
To you, and all others, Hang in there. Try to stay in your comfort zone whether it be here on the forums to talk among coworkers, family. doesnt matter where

Flynavy, I ran into a couple guys from our new-hire class who said they expect to be on RSV as captains for the next year or so. I guess everybody from the training department has been sent back to the line, including our dear friend Sir Mix-a-lot. Anybody I know been downgraded that you've heard of?

You know I actually liked being on reserve a whole lot. If all that happened was I spent the next few months on reserve I would be one happy black guy. I really hope the F word doesnt actually happen. I mean we're supposed to be doing MIA flying next month and all and UA is supposed to be ramping up as well. Even then with current lines being around 93 hours we could just bring those down to not F pilots.
Then again I'm so new in the game I dont even know whats going on outside of the cockpit.

Damn. This sucks! I might have to go back to my previous profession soon. I hope not. Been a hell of a ride so far though no matter what happens. But, I am halfway up the FO list, I sure hope that is high enough to ride this out. I am afraid the "pilot shortage" doesn't exist and never will. We're all out there fighting over the same damn steak, I'm afraid.

nah popa, everyone from our class SHOULD be exempt from the problems (except those who never got the chance to upgrade in the first place). I just finished my CA PC, and have been on reserve since i started, so, it's six months and counting right now.....I'm sure I won't be seeing a line before the year is up now, before hand, i was kinda hopefully if things turned around, or if we gained more flying, we'd sit pretty, but, that is in the can right now.....
I was almost thinking that management curbed their hiring quickly enough to avoid something like this, but i'm thinking it might have more to do with poor (at risk) flying that we don't want to do anymore, than it does with actual planning purposes....
