Anyone notice the flash cards today seem thinner??

When going over Profiles and Memory Items try reciting and juggling a tennis ball...if your good than try two tennis balls. Helps you focus on more than one thing at a time for when you get in the sim.

There is a gym across the street that is great for working out and sitting in the Steam room at the end of the day. It only costs seven dollars a month if you are staying at the Ho Stead. Just ask the counter girls at the suites and they will hook you up.

Lots of guys grind away on the lifecycle machines studying their flashcards.

dude...don't waste your time writing crap on notecards. Just read the sheets they give you until you can recite it off the top of your head. I saw some dudes writing crap out on a computer and thought "wow, in the time they type that crap they could've read the sheet 100 times."

I recommend Snickers bars with taurine (Snickers "Charged") rather than redbull...keeps you from getting the shakes as bad, it's a little smoother rush b/c it has some calories. Good for that Helena sim at 3AM at least.

Also, don't bring an attitude. There is always some guy in class who thinks he knows everything ranging from CRJ systems to flying to things like reserve times, bidding, and the company's future....and also keeps tabs on who passed what and when and who failed what and when and all that....funny thing is, the "class gossip" usually ends up having the most trouble in everything.

Also, remember to forget 90% of what the sim instructors say once you get into OE, because 90% of the sim scenarios have nothing to do with real world line flying, particularly visual approaches. I've never shot an approach on the line that went as depicted on the profiles, and I probably never will unless I somehow get a 20 mile final someday.

think back to your CFI applicant days of Fundamentals of Instructing, everybody learns differently. I know personally reading something over and over again isn't the best method for me to learn, however if I have to come up with the answer due to a prompt I learn better. And making the flashcards increases repetition another way of learning it.

An effective method of memorizing material is to write it down. Sometimes just making the flashcards does more for me than reading them.

Yeah, they are a bit goofy. But anyone who has some close quarters combat training/experience will prefer not wear a noose around their neck...

The clip-on's actually a nice distraction...good chance the bad guy will go for that first. While he's coming to terms with magnitude of his mistake, YOU can go to work on HIM

Are attempted beatings part of sim training these days?!!! Should I be wearing a mouthpiece, mma gloves, and a cup instead of a tie?!!!
