Thanks!!

I woulda learned how to use the search function. The topic of "what to bring to/how to survive your first 121 training evolution" is almost as beat to death as the "which flight case for the CRJ", "what kind of luggage" and "which headset do I need" debates.
But I'll second the car. Although chances are, at least one person in your class will probably have a car so depending on your situation it might not be worth the hassle when you can just make friends with said person with car.

I still think you should wear one and let them tell you to take it off. Everyone knows they will tell you to take it off but you still have to go through the dance.
Kinda like when a friend offers to buy you dinner. You know they are going to pay, they are expecting to pay, but you still pull out your wallet and let them tell you to put it away.

Wear the tie for your first checkride at a new airline. Not for general sim lessons with check airmen/instructors. Once you're on with the airline you'll never have to wear it again for a training event. I have heard more than one APD give a guy grief for not wearing one, however those same ones will tell you to take it off later after the introductions usually. Plus whats the big deal about wearing one? as a pilot you'll be wearing one every day anyways.

PS
Clip-on ties are for children
