I just hope, for their sake, that anyone with less than 500 hours who was planning on these regional jobs has a CFI.

If not, get it quick. All commercial jobs are going to be scarce soon.

I believe CFI jobs will also be competitive just as they were 10 years ago. So hurry up and get it. Start instructing and get time before Avgas forces prices past $150/hr. for a 172. Then you won't have any students...

I'm not sure how all this is going to shake out, but I think it will completely change the aviation landscape.

My bet: 2 or 3 major passenger carriers left, a few regional affiliates for each, and in 20 years, multi-crew certificates... Civilian flight training will be as scarce as it is in Europe.
