Quote: They might be old props, but having been a former CRJ pilot I can honestly say I've had a blast in comparison over the past 4 years. The more I speak to friends at other airlines, the more I realize we have a pretty good thing going here at PDT. Nothing is perfect but my advice would be stay the course.
Thanks I most likely probably will stay.

I waited 7 weeks for sims but im on my way now. Do yourself a favor and dont quit man. Yes the back up kinda stinks but this is my second 121 and i like it alot so far. You dont want a question mark on your training record. You will really regret having to explain that in an interview. I had a scuff from a 135 that tried to make me pay on a training contract and affected my pria. If id of waited another month or two probably wouldnt have happened and i would never have to explain it. But at the end of the day its your choice man. Just a friendly word of advice. Travel on your time off or something man!

Thanks for the advice, I will defenitly find something to do for sure, I just cannot be at home doing nothing, that's what made me a little desperate, but I'm happy to be here and the future.

I think it all depends on what your ultimate goals are as well as your age and stage in the industry. I would not worry about the PRIA check if you have a legitimate reason for leaving PDT, ie. a better offer etc. That can be easily explained. It is much better to quit before you even start sims, as opposed to half-way during sims, which can then raise some questions. No one should question you if you left a $25,000 year job because you were offered much more elsewhere and its a better opportunity. However, jumping from airline to airline laterally will hurt you career and seniority wise.

If you are having second thoughts or have made a mistake as you have implied, better to pull the plug early and avoid problems for you and PDT. From all indications PDT is one of the better regionals with some solid opportunities. Weigh all your options carefully. If you can't work for PDT because of low pay and some minor scheduling issues then you probably will be unhappy at every other regional. If you are a young new-hire think ahead and don't get bogged down with the present. If you have a lot of time off, use it productively. Enjoy it while you can as it won't last long! Ultimately, follow your instincts and don't be a slave to PRIA. I know of several people who have left airlines during ground training, sim training, during/after IOE and it was a non-issue. However, keep in mind these folks did not have any training issues which were reasons for leaving. PRIA checks are meant to provide information on training issues and should not affect an applicant with no training issues.

145's
Anyone know if the Jan. class new hires will have the option to get into the 145 or is it strictly seniority based? Seems like it would make more sense to train new guys. Also, anyone know how many pilots are currently on property and how many PDT is aiming to have to meet the needs with the new fleet coming?

It's going to be awhile before new hires get the 145, like 6 months maybe. I believe we have about 430 pilots on the list now. I think we'll be close to 600 pilots by end of next year.

How long to get EWN do you think for a new hire? How's the upgrade forecast I was told 1-1.3 years by a buddy there.

New Bern will take forever, so will CHO. They both are closing end of Dec. 2015.

Choices as of now are SBY, ROA, MDT and PHL with RDU and ORF being rumored.

Upgrade is right at 1.0 years.

Thanks for the info. If you opt as a new guy to get in the 145 after 6 months would that increase upgrade time significantly?
