Yeah they are planning 20 to 30 new hires a month... From what I have seen, the small classes are usually very experienced guys making lateral moves or starting all over again. They usually fly through training and have been matched up with the captain upgrades, but maybe that is just coincidence.
I'm hoping our upgrade failure percentage goes down.. Makes me nervous when I take the call.

the fail rate during upgrade has been brought up quite a few times in this thread, what particularly is the cause? Poor training culture, complex aircraft, lack of decision making/experience, or a combination of the 3? I have the required hours and would be interested in accepting the earliest available upgrade but the general sentiment regarding training makes me a little hesitant.
Thanks again!

Do they assign all pilots a sim buddy for the sim or do you get to choose your partner if its FO/FO?

Many of the old instructors will need to become teachers again and less evaluators.
Good news there is a new breed of instructors going through and the ones I know are great. Probably the ones I don't know are also.
The new director of training is good also. Good attitude, experience and hard work you'll be fine.
Thing that's hardest the 'experience' which you don't have you can't teach at all. These are the ones that will have a tough time upgrading.

About a mile south of the hotel is a good sports bar. They will have the game. Buffalo tv stations are on at the hotel and the mall has everything an American would need i.e chipotle!
