So much for us not losing flying. Bids came out for Sept.

CHO went from 22 lines in Aug to 19.
EWN went from 16 lines in Aug to 13.
LGA stayed the same.
MDT stayed the same.
ROA went from 33 lines in Aug to 31.
SBY went from 28 lines in Aug to 30.

That doesn't include build-up lines. So we lost about 6 lines of flying.

Is this slowdown normal for this time of year? I heard that PDT will still go through its seasonal slow-down, just wondering if this is it. Hopefully it wont get any worse...

And Steve lies again!

The letter states:
Although US Airways announced a reduction in their flight schedule for the fall, that will not occur at Piedmont.

Seasonal slowdowns are usually pretty normal at every airline. Often such slowdowns are operationally necessary so heavy checks can be done on aircraft also. That being said I was hopeful that Mr. Farrow was telling the truth. Fortunately, we haven't lost too much, and we've kept a lot more than most other airlines (*knock on wood*).

"Although US Airways announced a reduction in their flight schedule for the fall, that will not occur at Piedmont." Steve Farrow - Aug 4

"September is the first month of the Airways system wide schedule pull down, which also reduced our utilization." Steve Farrow - Aug 10

Seems clear to me.

So they are holding a class in Sept??

Or is this the upgrade class?

piper338 08-16-2008 07:16 AM

I think it is just 6 upgrades, maybe there is a new hire class???

threegreen 08-16-2008 08:45 AM

have any of you guys in the pool heard anyone getting an FO class??? I am hoping since we got that email last month more ppl have left.

Phuz 08-16-2008 12:53 PM

I haven't heard anything either way - there is a class in Sept. that should be just upgrades as far as I know. The likelihood that PDT is bringing on new-hires when each base has about 10+ F/O's on reserve is very very slim, IMO.

Yea, I've flown once in the past 2 weeks. July was a pretty good month. Hopefully September will be a better month, then August is proving to be.
