Expect to work hard! Buy Carhardtt jackets and pants and only buy those supplies in AK. Don't expect to find anything in the lower-48 that will keep you warm enough in the wind, blowing snow, and negative temps of the north slope. Windproof hat and jacket are a must.
My hands always got the coldest I got some mittens for loading boxes and that worked really well, though you will need some good gloves for when you need to use your fingers. Some Mechanix type gloves might be a good idea for the summer because cardboard can really tear up your hands if you aren't used to it.
Things work a little different in Alaska, so go in with an open mind. Worry about your terrain and you'll be okay.
Have fun, I miss it, but flying up there truly makes you a better pilot.

Well..... better hold of on naming the company until I get up there and start working. Wouldn't want to jinks myself or anything!
CRJdriver, get me a date with you avatar chick and I'll be glad to fill you in!
I'm flying a B-25 right now, and yea there's a pretty long line of guys busting at the seams behind me. At this point I'm just glad someone wants me to come work for them.
And thanks for the tips on clothes. I needed them two weeks ago when we had the 25' up there!

I got to the point that above freezing with no wind was a light jacket with a hat day. I never was stupid enough to just wear that to work, because who knows what the weather would be like at your destination or if you had to make an unscheduled landing somewhere.
You're gonna have a good time. Enjoy it!
Oh and a good pair of composite toe boots will probably save you some pain. You will drop a triple mailer or something heavier on your foot at some point. I grew to hate those things...

Right place right time, luck, knowing the right people, and be willing to give up damn near everything. The rest is easy. It's another airplane once you get in it, but it never ever gets boring..... that's for sure!
