Lately I have been going to the store and buying things in small quantities, that way I run out fast and have to go to the store again, and that takes up some time... not to mention the girls that work there are preety

But for the most part its hanging around doing not much of anything waiting for the phone to ring in hopes its scheduling but when it does ring its your mom, or maybe it is scheduling so you get excited and pick up in hopes that you got assigned a trip, but they are only calling to let you know that your on call time for the next day has been adjusted ot 0900 and that pretty much tells you they have plenty of reserves in base and you will most likely not be flying that next day. (run on i know.)
Pay the monthly fee and go to blockbuster and start watching shows you've never seen but heard good things about. During my 4 months I watched all seasons of: House, Battlestar Galactica, 24, Lost, Heroes, Entourage, Bones, and a few others.

Luckily I live in base so I was able to pick up a part time job tearing down, cleaning, and repairing power tools. The guys that run the company are super laid back so if I get called to fly, I just drop what I'm doing and go fly. It's not the most glamorous job but it keeps me busy and helps out the F/O pay.

While I'm on airport reserve, I find a nice quiet part of the concourse (as quiet as you can find anyway), put on the iPod, and catch up on reading. I also routinely go through my flash cards for all my limitations, action items, and whatnot. Sounds geeky but when something malfunctions or the ****** hits the fan, I want my actions to be automatic and not have to think about it. I owe that to the folks in the back.

Being on reserve in six different domiciles while commuting, I would say that sums it up best.

However, being on rsv in LAX in a crashpad thats a short distance from Manhattan/Hermosa beach was far from a grueling and traumatic experience. Sad, but I'd take being on rsv in LAX over being a bottom line holder in ANY of our COEX bases. Especially the months I was on long call.

Man, our crash pad sucks. We sit around the pool, mess with airplanes (hangar and runway in the front yard) Fish and sit around the fire pit (lake in the back yard), cook (big kitchen/nice grill), drink beer (when legal) and tell flying stories.

Reserve here is a blast!
