There's nothing in the article about it having oil onboard. In fact the article says it was doing trial runs.

Besides how do you sell 2 million barrels of oil on the black market. The pirates would need some way to unload all the oil and a buyer for it. They're screwed as it is. What are they going to do with the ship, take it to a chop shop? It's not like you can't see that thing from space.

Hope they enjoy it while it last cause I'll bet most of them won't live to do it again.

OO.

I saw that article earlier! Unbelievable! I had no idea that Pirates were actually still terrorizing the high seas...

They know they can't sell the Oil, and they can't refine it anyway...instead, they hold the ship, cargo, and crewmembers for ransom. Really, it's brilliant. That country literally runs on ransom dollars.

The tanker is full. The pirates have demanded a $10M ransom. More than likely the ransom will be payed and the ship, it's crew and cargo will go on their way. According to an article I read the oil on the ship represents 1/4 of the oil the Saudis pump in a day.

$10M for $100M worth of oil probably isn't a bad deal. Maybe we should buy it ourselves and sit on it for a rainy day.

Hey, Southwest won't pass on a deal...maybe they'd pay it off and hedge it for the future.
