I have found ASA to be a good commutable regional. If you’re fortunate enough to be a line holder, you can post trips for trade, drop, or swap on a company board. Last month I posted one trip which was picked right away up resulting in my having 8 consecutive days off. If your on reserve (which I've fallen back to again this month), you can trade reserve days with others on reserve or even your self, allowing you to group off days together for maximum time home.

And since ATL is a DL hub, it gives plenty of commuting options. I have been able to successfully commute between HNL and ATL for the past six months, not the ideal situation, but it can be done.

Commuting is what you make of it. I commute from AZ to NY, on the way plug in the headsets and watch the movie, listen to music, or read. On the way back usually a little tired, so catch a nap, which is good cause you gain time on the way back. Could get home early enough to still do something with the family. But you have to take it for what it is, when you're gone you're gone. Also, airline dependent, but most reserve guys I was with bid their days on together in a row to try and lump days off together, that way, again, when you're gone, you're gone, but when you're home you're home.
