they teach you that at gulfstream

Gulfstream and JetU taught me that. I can't believe they let a guy name Ron Mexico pay to fly a 1900..... AKA number one gear slanger.

I'm not advocating any sort of slowdown. I wouldn't want to ruin our reputation as the best airline for on time performance. I'm just saying if you are going to be as safe as possible, why does is matter if there is someone behind you or not? Maybe you should strive to be a little safer all the time. ;) The best thing that could happen is to spread our safety culture throughout all of the stations and hubs we travel to... it will have the greatest effect for all of us.

There is a difference between a safe / normal taxi speed, and a safe / ridiculously, painfully slow taxi speed. I'm just saying that not everybody likes to go at the painfully slow pace.

Other reason a slowdown wouldn't work here at PNCL... We don't go back on the clock for 15 mins. While everyone else gets "block or better" we get the trip value (with is typically close to block) but if we go over block we still only get the trip rig until we go over by 15 mins, then we go back on the clock. When the flights are blocked a bit high as it is (we are on the winter schedule and the deicing hasn't started yet) we would have to taxi slow as hell and still show up within 15 mins and have the same pay. I would say to be by the book, taxi at a safe speed (brisk walk per the AIM) and fly the profiles. This way everyone is legal and we can all say "we are professionals".

I agree. Hypotheticallly, if there were to be an "official" unofficial taxi slowdown, most other pilots don't mind too much, so long as they are in the loop and haven't been living inder a rock for the past decade. Because in the long run it would benefit them too. I know when NWA -9's were taxiing at .0003 knots I didnt mind. And ATC would usually ask me if I wanted to sidestep to a parallel taxiway to pass if I wanted to.

What ****es me off is when you have a flagship taxiiing like a frozen turtle because they dont have numbers yet, with a line of planes behind him, then as soon as he has the numbers he picks it up to a reasonable pace, rather than just having a normal taxi all the way and pulling over in the pad at the end of the runway.

Or when I don't have numbers yet and ground advizes someone to follow me, I always tell ground negative numbers and they let the other aircraft go first. Then that other aircraft, after getting in front of me and knowing why I let them in front, tells ground THEY don't have numbers and taxis like a turtle.

Another reason why it wouldnt work here is because we hired alot of Gulfstream guys, who are all now capts...
I was taxiing slow as ba$$s in DTW the other day and this idiot on the radio goes "beep beep" as I rounded the corner on K it was on of our guys right on my a@@. So I stopped because a pax got up... I hate it when that happens.
These Gstreamers paid 20K to fly a 1900, you think they even care if they get paid here? They just like to look in the mirror at the super 8 motel and see those shinny wings.
Pinnacle is filled with idiots that think 1000hrs of PIC and then they are gonna get this magic job at the best airline in the world...
I give ASA guys ALOT of credit because they have ba%%s and we dont.
