I'm in the hiring pool and am instructing as I hope things turn around and those that are on furlough can go back online, and those of us in the pool can start at PSA someday.
Does anyone know the possibility of the pool disolving?

I'm in the exact same situation. Instructing and building up a ton of time and experience. I haven't heard anything about the pool going away. There were rumors going around about more flying in January. Some of the furloughed guys might have went onto other airlines so when they do the recall they may need a new hire class? But I'm just wishful thinking. I wonder if they are going to bring us back for another interview? I heard some from Piedmont might have to go back and do their interview over. Not that I mind doing an interview again but $200 for a hotel and meals. I need that for rent and groceries right now.

Jeez thats a lot. I never spent more than $100 on an interview trip. What hotel did you stay at every interview I went to gave you a list of hotels with discounted rates around $50 night. I always made sure the hotel had free breakfast and hotel shuttle. Don't get me wrong I needed that $100 for bills too.

Gunt, Bradeku1008, and all others in the pool, furloughed, or instructing:
I realize that now is a difficult time to find an aviation job, but please do not give up looking! I live in base and very much enjoy working at PSA; however, they are not the only regional in town. Just today I noticed on APC's main page that FLTops.com is hosting another Chicago job fair. I went to the link and noticed that several regionals are hiring and will be attending the fair, including: Compass, American Eagle, Colgan, Mesaba, and Pinnacle. Furthermore, Compass' published mins for the job fair are 1400 TT and 800 ME. Granted, 800 ME may be steep for someone currently instructing, but for anyone on furlough, 800 ME may be possible (your CRJ time at PSA plus whatever multi time you got hired with). Additionally, your CRJ SIC type rating may give you a slight advantage at the job fair, as it demonstrates your ability to successfully complete a 121 training regimen and possibly save the hiring company money in training costs (less time to train you versus someone with no CRJ time in the sim). My point is simply to keep looking around for opportunities. I know opportunities are not as abundant as they were a few years ago, but never give up. "Luck" has a tenacious habit of finding the persistant!

Is PSA hiring? Any chance of me getting hired in the near future, anywhere? I have 660TT, 330ME, 350 Dual given, CFII, MEI. I'm getting really antsy to get out of the flight instructing world and in to the airlines, any suggestions?

You make me want to go look up my number, is that number from the top or bottom? You the first one back or last? I was somewhere in the middle, towards the top of the first bunch shown the door. Maybe get a recall come summer?

Dosent the contract that US Air has with Mesa allow a competitor to be in place in the first quarter of 2009? If so then that would probably be why there are rumors of more flying for PSA. This would also increase flying for Piedmont as well.
