Just wondering if anyone has any info about the furlough and possibility for future hiring?

No news. We only have 47 of our 49 aircraft in service.

In other words we have 49 airplanes cover 47 airplanes worth of flying.

I think they use the other 2 as spares.

Who knows whats going on. Last I heard they were short on FO's. The emails that I got from them made it sound like they weren't going to run a new hire class this year, and will probably wait until the Spring. But they have to call back all the furloughed pilots soon for that to happen.

They will run this place on the absolute bare minimum they can for as long as they can before they call anyone back. I would be surprised if there were any recalls before the spring months. But, that could all change tomorrow. I would imagine a lot of the furloughees will return, more than normal due to not having anywhere else to go. That may lessen the need for new hire classes.

I wonder how many people who were furloughed and the people who were placed in the hiring pool went on to better things?

Reserves arent flying too much from my understanding, its a dull month though, noones looking to take time off, cut backs and all that... The two airplanes parked 1 700 is in paint and the parked 200 is a spare so not really that bad, i know they usually keep a spare or two since ive been here.

things kind of calmed down a bit as far as talk and rumors, hopefully things will turn for the best heading into winter and busier months.

As of 9-14-2008, uspilots.com says they are hiring FO's. Does anybody have experience with PSA airlines? pro's - cons?
