The dues are not that much higher. Here is an example for a 4 year Saab Captain.

Teamsters= $45 X 75 hours= $3375= $59 union dues
ALPA= $45 X 83 hour average= $3735 = $72 union dues

I am wiling to pay $13 extra a month to have the extra resources that ALPA has. You pay more a month for Dental insurance, this is the closest thing we have to career insurance. You will pay more money to get the better medical and dental plan but not Career Insurance Plan?

Vote Alpa, paying the dues is nothing compared to how many times you get screwed out of money because of no work rules.

Well ... this post didn't exactly turn out the way I envisioned ... but then again ... we are on APF here, lol. Frankly, I think I would rather have ALPA than Teamsters ... but I'm still not 100% for ALPA just yet. Kalyx, I'm not sure who who you are down in IAH, so it might be hard to talk with you, although if you've been there a while, I've probably talked with you about it a few times already and just don't know it. How long have you been in IAH?

I'm still pretty new to these forums, so I don't know how to PM, if I can even do it yet ... but if you can PM me, feel free to do so, and we can discuss this more.

I just really hope everyone actually votes this time around... lord knows we need it badly...

It is more of the fact that I think $10-$15 a month is a reason to lean one way over another. The benefits and resources ALPA provides over Teamsters is way more than $10-$15 a month.

Bottom line, ask yourself this question. If you were to have action being taken against your license who do you want having your back.
