There is a very distinct difference between:
1. Aviation as a passionate pursuit.
2. COMMERCIAL aviation.
No matter how rough it gets under the heading of #2, I, for one, will always have a smile on my face when I think of general aviation, $100 hamburgers, glider flying, R/C flying, etc.

I remember hot summer days, very low wages (when White Castle hamburgers seemed like a $100), students with more money than common sense, the smell of oil and avgas, cramped cockpits and very low wages.
The winter time was the same except that it was incredibly freezing outside. And the wages were very low.
Don't get me wrong, aviation has turned out to be a great career, and GA was a means to help me get to where I am today, but I do not desire to take part in it as a hobby. Personally, especially when the air outside is very cold, I would rather be in a billiards hall playing pool.

I too was happy to leave GA behind once I had reached turbine equipment. However now that I do not have that outlet anymore I have found it fun to fly small planes again.
If I had the money however I would be doing touch and gos in a Cessna Mustang instead of a 150.

I still fly GA and belong to a flying club that hosts many fly-ins and is a fun place to be. I still have fun going on $100 hamburger flights with friends. Although I would not want to go back to the times of instructing.

But, pilots like you are dime a dozen and would try their best to make it 'hard' for him to like this industry.

I remember flying out of there for a little bit back in the day (about a year ago). I rented a plane out of Hollywood Aviation which was actually a pretty nice plane compared to what I was used to renting.
