That sounds pretty sheisty if it's true. Even if they don't make you sit reserve, I would be pretty bummed about not getting a pay check around Xmas time. Can someone please explain to me again why SkyWest is so great cause I'm still not getting it.

When I was in training I was told that we get paid our guarantee if we time out. They said it happend to 2 or 3 ppl last year. Makes sence cuz it is all company flying so there is no reason why they wouldn't pay you. Otherwise getting high block hrs would suck. One yrs worth of guarantee is 900hrs of pay already anyways.

It's not "great", it's just better than most regionals. For a lot of us, location is factor in that. At least it sets in a fine location... ;)

If you DID fly enough at SKW to time out for ALL of Dec, you would have made some much 1.5x during the year that you wouldn't need a paycheck at that point.

Everyone I've spoken with has told me you're SOL if you time-out...Now THAT is absolutely my biggest complaint here, and worth going to talk to Uncle Jerry about with ALPA-ballot in hand!

I was all set to time-out in EARLY November, but cut my schedule back a bit as I'm back in school. Even still, with my reduced schedule I'll be blocking a hair shy of 1000 hours this year.

i guess pinnacle has it good in this area. if you are going to time out the company will start buying you off trips so you dont. a friend of mine here at pinnacle is set to time out in november. he had a 95 hour line this month. they bought 50 of his hours from him. so he will fly 45 hours this month and get paid for 95. same will go for november and december. and if you actually time out you will just get guarantee.

on a side note.. i never want to have to worry about timing out, hence my 75 hour lines all year.

Can't complain about that! Sounds like you've got it good in that department for sure!

I think that's the trick...don't time out in NOV.
