Skywest RJ takes out ORD MX truck
#21
How exactly did you get to this conclusion? Airplane has the right of way, and we aren't maneuverable enough to avoid a truck closing at high speed.
and it's CRJ 1 and truck 0 because there's just a bit of weight difference.

It's amazing that anyone (especially pilots) could think that it was the Mx guys fault. Regardless I feel for all involved.

I think it has more to do with management approach...truck driver is airport employee(gov't) where its pretty hard to lose a job. Vs an airline whose logic on decision making is quite unpredictable. And not sure if SKW mx has a union to defend their guys.

UM I would think the unpredictability in this case would be from the Gov employees. Usually airline guys regardless of position have a standardized training in their back ground. Not to mention even if they were on a closed taxi way or runway, why has no one mentioned ground control's involvement?

If a demolition derby was staged on a big ramp somewhere which RJ or Turboprop do you think would be the last one moving. It would be dangerous and expensive, but it would be a lot of fun until everything started on fire.

I'd never have expected to see the RJ's nosewheel stand up to taking the rear axle out of a truck like that. I have a newfound respect for its strength!
That said, though, I'd probably figure on a 1900 or a Saab 340 winning the ramp demolition derby.
