Yo Driver! I went to Phoenix on Wed. I was S3 Wed. On Thursday when I checked in, my only choice was S3B. However, there was NO yield fare.

Why would parents have to pay yield fare before the 18 days/year? That doesn't make any sense. But then again, neither did changing our non-rev status on day 2.

With all due respect to Pennekamp, I never understood the "it could be worse" argument. It just comes across as preachy and condescending no matter the source.

Sorry you have testicular cancer. At least it isn't pancreatic cancer.

Sorry your dog died. At least you won't have to worry about vet bills anymore.

Sorry your family is losing their home. At least you live in the US and not Somalia.

Sorry your girlfriend took you to see Sex in the City. At least it wasn't a Brokeback Mountain film festival.

Just like mainline has the same pass level as you on the DCI carriers. Since just about every domestic route seems to be flown by a DCI, I guess we're all in the same boat. That's why I quit commuting. S3C and the fact that the 50 seaters seems to be weight restricted all the time now.

Pilot = S3B no yield fare
Spouse = S3B pay yield fare
Parents = S3B pay yield fare
cant be any more simple than that

Point well taken. Sorry if I offended.

50s being weight restricted is nothing new.

I would have to ask how long you have at Comair. If you have less than two years, it might be worth it to jump ship to Mesaba. They just announced they got the 15 -900s and their upgrade is what 2 years? Comair doesn't seem to be making a comeback anytime soon. For Mesaba and Pinnacle, the sky seems to be the limit. They seem the be The Chosen Ones in The New Delta.

I found it hysterical Bob. I almost had the morning coffee until I read that last line. Maybe we should start a whole new thread under it could be worse.

Question for some of the guys going to Mesaba. I was starting to fill out the application until I realized that it would take almost 5 years to break $30 an hour. Are those numbers correct? I took them off of Bored's post under the Mesaba new hires thread. If it is correct then I wish you guys luck.

I agree with most of what you have said except I am not sure if Pinnacle is one of the chosen by Delta. Mesaba is getting the 7 Freedom CRJ9s that is currently being operated by Pinnacle. Anderson interview indicated he wants to stay with wholly owned regionals for expansion. This is why it is somewhat puzzling why DAL seems to be turning away from Comair. Could be because Comair is overweight with 50 seat RJs. Don't know. Maybe you know better than most of us.

Upgrade time is changing even as we speak so don't know what it would be in two months for CRJ900 or Saab CA slots. Right now the upgrade into the Saab is quick (like less than 7 months) if you have the ATP minimums because they moved a bunch of Saab CAs to CRJ9 upgrades but the upgrade in the CRJ2 and CRJ9s have slowed to a crawl.
15 additional CRJ9 should make the movement a little faster.

No that is not true. Mesaba has a snap back provision come December that will give us a raise back to the 2004 rate and there are no FOs with 5 years in unless you want to stay an FO. Upgrade into the Saab has been less than 7 months for those with ATP minimums. So you can upgrade into the Saab in less than a year and make about $45/hour. Mesaba has decent work rules which makes it possible for you to make more per month than at regionals which may have a nominally higher rate but has lousy work rules. I found out that while higher rate is nice it is not the only thing you should be looking at. Work rules that permit you to make more is also important. Ideally both element should be there. I am not saying Mesaba payrate is good, but you wind up making about the same amount as you would at a place that has a slightly higher pay rate.
