For a small pilot group such as ours with a DAILY changing company I can not see how you could possibly NOT vote union. 2 percent off of nothing is a small investment for at the very least the protection they offer and the resources they have that are not readily available to our pilot group. We simply do not have the resources that we need to accomplish what we are looking to get done.

Colgan will NOT bargain in good faith for the benefit of the pilot group without some sort of intervention which we as a collective NON UNION group can not provide. They feel they owe us nothing and will give us nothing unless we do something about it.

I got a message today from crewtrac that said we don't get paid mx cancellations anymore. Colgan gets more pathetic everyday. I reassured myself of this at the safety meeting with that dude harry, and buddy. I was not impressed.

When I lost my medical, ALPA Medical went to work for me and cut through all the red tape to get it back, I got my medical back in 6 months as opposed to using another medical service that charges $500.00 to try to push your paper work through, ALPA has a lot of pull in OKC.

I would gladly give up a 2% raise to not get *hit on every day by management.

that's actually been in the handbook for a long time. But I agree that it is a BS policy

true... it's just that they never followed that (just like they pick and choose everything else), we always got the original block. they are "cracking down" and "tightening up" now i guess like they have been all throughout this past year. rules like that encourage pilots to not write stuff up because they know they wont get paid if the flight gets canceled. it is TOTAL bs. imagine your flight gets canceled due to mx (not uncommon at colgan!) and you sit around for 6 hours waiting (for them to decide what to do, and/or for mx to do their thing) and then go do one last flight finally at the end of the day. what this rule says is that you get paid a total of TWO HOURS for all that trouble. (you don't paid for the first canceled flight, or any of the flights that got canceled in between, and also for the 6 hr sit at the airport (due to it not qualifying for hot reserve.)
i dont know how people can be OK with having this kind of work rule. even if we change this ONE rule in our new contract, a pilot will get back his $20, 30 in dues in that one mx-canceled day ALONE AND THEN SOME. if that's not a pay raise i dont know what is!

the 2% is worth it just for the insurance alone of not being let go out of seniority order. Not to mention the job protection if/when you have small mess ups out there

2% is worth the fact that when they call me on my day off, I can say" I'm not the junior man, find someone else" and they have to abide by it. 2% is worth me being able to use sick time that I earned without having to worry about getting fired or speaking to the chief pilot.

2% is worth when the company changes pay rules and you have to email crewpay@colganair 12 times just to get the credit that you earned. 2% is worth when the company tries to throw you under the bus to cover their own incompetence, someone will have your back.

Anybody that doesn't see the value added in 2% isn't worth .02
Let's get it right this time
