I just relized you are on the Q, You never did get paid for run-ups. Anyway you obviously know how to use APC, why don't you look at the pay scales at other 70 seat carriers, especially in the F.O. spot. Then come back to the forums and tell us if you are O.K. with your pay rate, not to mention if your bottom hurts for working with the rules we have.

Skidmark is correct. I do not know who the person was who said "management will punnish us" but get a clue. I see he is on the Q and I hope he was not one in the group of Q newbies hired last year with 250TT. trying to tell us he "knows" what is up with Colgan.

The first Q class averaged 1800 or so TT for the FOs. I am not sure when the 250 hour hiring started but I know it did. I know we have a few on the Q under 500TT.

Yeah, I remember Colgan wanted high time FO's on the Q to start because of the high TT upgrade requirements on the Q when it came out, think it was around 3000+TT. However as you said, in came the 250TT guys into the fold. Thank God we are back to hiring 1000+ FO's again, flying with a 250 hour FO would be scary.

For the majority of the pilots out there with 250TT, I would completely agree with you ... they severely lack experience needed to operate in the 121 world. Now, for the roast chicken comment of the evening ... Some of those 250TT guys are the most level headed, down to earth, very intelligent guys you'll ever meet. There certainly aren't many of them, but EVERYONE has been with a guy who has 250TT who could fly a single engine NBD approach with the needle going haywire better than a 1500TT guy that couldn't his own a$$ with both hands. Some people out there are just natural pilots and it's in their blood to be in the air.

I think Juice is right though ... the upgrade time on the Q is around 3000TT. So, those low time guys are gonna be there for a while!

As for the payrates ... good lord ... atrocious doesn't begin to describe it. I'm not saying we should be paid $50/hour as a starting FO to fly 74 pax around ... but being paid the same amount to fly 19 pax as you would be to fly 74 pax ... UNREAL!!! They asked me if I would be willing to go fly it, and I almost laughed on the phone.

DME / skidmark / juice

SARCASM / AMUSEMENT was the key for that comment since some things at colgan seem to be done on a personal level due to the size, fyi I had a bit more than 250, about five times that when I got hired-thanks for your concern though. Id love to get paid more, but considering my area has no other airline to build time with, no cargo or corporate spots open, I wasn't going to miss a chance at a 121 job to pass me up, esp since I had the time coming out of instructing/college. Why dont you talk to some of your other captains who say they have no problem with the pay, due to the condition of the times and industry overall. Im happy to have a job and enjoy working with my co-workers who I feel I can learn a ton from, thats what I "know".
