Online Degrees and Airline Interviews.
#11
I used to interview folks, in aviation and in industry.
For a job which required a degree, I would acccept a diploma from public and private schools which were accredited by the appropriate organizations (yes, there is a list).
I would not accept 4-year degrees from places like ITT Tech, because their entire premise is that they bring "education" down to your level, as opposed to bringing YOU up to a higher standard...an ITT grad would not have all of the qualities for which I was offering a college-grad salary. I would accept an ITT type degree in lieu of an associates in a technical field.
I would not disqualify an ITT grad from a non-degree or associate's degree position.
However, in the case of a life experience degree...I would consider that fraudulent. So what if it's "accredited"...anyone can create an organization to "accredit" other organizations...probably for $499 a pop.
Anyone who is asking for a degree really wants more than just a piece of paper...otherwise they wouldn't bother. Save your money.

Having a Degree in lets say underwater basket weaving doesn't mean that you still didn't get a college education. Those here that went to college know that there was all kinds of classes we had to take that had nothing to do with our major. Generally that is what the 1st 2 years of college is, G.E.'s but at the sametime that is exactly what an A.A. does for you. I think one reason some airlines ask for a 2 or 4 year degree is just make the pool that much harder to get into. Another reason I think they look for AA/BA is to get an idea of the pilots ability to study and show that they can make it through training. I got my AA and never finished my BA, now on RES I have a lot of time so I went to UCF to see about finishing my BA. They offer 5 majors that can be done 100% online if you have an AA already. When I was in the military, many officers and enlisted I knew got their BA from national university and University of Phoenix. Both can be done 100% online or in class and is accredited by the Dep of Education. I opted not to do that because it is such a large online college. I wanted to find a 4yr college that has a large campus and is known. Almost all real colleges out there these days offer some majors online but most require that you already have your AA. UCLA/USC/UF/UCF/UCSD/CSN/CSF/ list goes on and on.... I suggest you call your local college and make an appointment, sit down and talk to them. I did this last week they even pointed a few other 100% online college I didn't know about if I didn't have an AA or wanted to go there for a BA because they offer more majors. This from a advisor from UCF, University of Central Florida. (not so great football team).

at the bottom of the belford website it lists that you can call and talk to a "student counselor at belford university" anyone done that yet, did the original poster do that, or did you just look at the website, see "accredited" and "accepts visa" and about sign up.
If you want a college degree, earn one....the same way you were suppose to earn those stripes on your sleeve. If you want to be given a handout, they're doing that at your local soup kitchen, or please, contact UNICEF, and get out of this business.

Forget buying a bachelors degree, I am going to drop $549 and get the Doctorate, thats DR. Juice to everyone.
I will go and interview with my doctorate and make the hiring board call me Doctor, and I will correct them if they forget
