So i Have about 6000 TT 1500 turbine 1800 multi...what is the likely hood of a regional hiring me over a cfi with 1000TT? Could it happen?

Mesaba recently hired a guy with over 20,000 hours. UAL retiree. I'd say the chances are very good. Competitive mins certainly have gone up. Very few CFIs are getting the interview with so many furloughed 121 pilots out there.

Also Mesaba send an email to a very good friend of mine with 6000TT 2100 on a CRJ 700/900NG and 650Jet PIC on a CRJ 900NG, a letter that they cannot give him an interview due to his qualifications are not what they are looking for. !!! So go figure this out.!!!!!!!

Sounds like a standardized form letter doesn't it?

I have about 12000 total, 8000 pic 121 jet. About a year ago I applied to Compass on a lark. I got a letter back telling me my qualifications were "impressive" but I was not what they were looking for.

Then about a month later they sent me two letters and an e-mail inviting me to a job fair.

Think about that. Nothing personal at all, but of course you aren't what they are looking for. They aren't just looking for a pilot whose skills may be above and beyond the norm. They want a very lowtime rookie with the "shinny jet" syndrome that they can totally abuse and keep their costs down. They don't want anyone who knew how good it was. You know how it goes...

What about a guy coming up on 5,000 total, with 4,000 SIC in CRJs...

Could this guy be unhirable, and therefore stuck as a career FO at his current shrinking regional job?

You can only go up from there. That seems totally hire able if you want to go to a better place like a major or corporate outfit. Unfortunately the seniority system doesn't play to your advantage if you want to jump ship for another regional. Since you would start in the right seat and 1st year pay always sux, the system is designed for a newbie. Obviously anyone can do what they want and I guess if you catch one of those street captain hirings it would be nice.

No I think that guy, if that is you, is totally hirable. It's a numbers game. You have to send apps to several and one or two will call back for an interview. It helps if you know someone at the airline who can recommend you as that will expedite the process somewhat. This market is definitely tighter than it used to be.
