Default ASA or Chautauqua

ASA may call in a few days, but I will have a captain walk a resume in at Chautauqua in 3 months(need more time). Which do you guys go for? Hold out for Chautauqua or go with ASA if they call first?

Obviously, you need a job. Keeping that in mind, you have to go with the first call. You can always switch later. JMHO.

Why do you want to leave Skywest?

Bird in hand is better than two in the bush. I do not need a job at the moment. My current job will allow me to upgrade at the end of the year, but in Turbo-prop. I am not doggin turbo-prop, but I am 32 and would like to make a little more money in the next 5 years. I would be willing to sit for 4-5 years for an upgrade in a ERJ or CRJ if the pay scale is good for that company.

Both companies are great...CAL actually choose chautauqua to replace ExpressJet...My opinion is go to Chautauqua but as someone said before go to whoever call you first..

Just to let you know, I do not work for Skywest. My orginal post was to question whether to hold out for CHQ(need 250 hours for a captain to walk in my resume) or take ASA if they call in the next week or so.

Does anyone know if ASA pilots can transfer into the Skywest system and vice versa?

As for the transfer, no, they are on separate work rules(Skywest isn't union), and a separate seniority list.

I know a couple FOs with both companies, and all of them like their respective employers. It sounds like QOL, work rules are about as good as you get with a regional. My friend at ASA has been there nearly a year. He's been on reserve the whole time but has enjoyed it. Recently chose to transfer to the 700 and sit on reserve a little longer for the increace in pay.

Ohhhhhhh, wow did i miss interperet this thread. I really feel stupid now. But your little profile thing says that you're an EMB-120 FO. Who with? I'm trying to think of who flies them besides SkyWest.

I would consider ASA to be a better place to work (I have friends at both)...ESPECIALLY if you have a job offer in hand! If you turn down ASA, then don't get hired at CHQ, you have severely limited your options.

CHQ could have significant upgrade opportunities, and I believe that ASA does not require you to sign a training letter based on one of my friend's experiences...if you see where I'm going with that.
