Puh-leaze. . .

Our present 80 was simply to get rid of the "Temp" hires for last year's Summer off of the company's seniority list and pawn them off to GoJets.

Doesn't sound like our system Chief Pilot is having much trouble convincing the giddy boys and girls who just HAVE TO FLY A JET to leave ASA's seniority list to get on over to GoJets and resign their seniority numbers.

Gotta get us temporary workers off the list somehow.

Tell me, when was the last time you lost your job? Why don't you stop thinking about yourself for a moment and wonder what it would be like to loose two flying jobs in just over a year and wondering what you're going to do for health insurance, car payments, rent and all the other things you have to pay for month to month.

I'm not saying that GoJet is the answer, with the current state of the economy, you should probably count your blessings that you have a job. Now if someone wanted to go to GoJet because they "HAVE TO FLY A JET" and loose their seniority number at ASA, let them. Obviously it doesn't concern you because you were just a little luckier with the time you got hired, but when its you on the street don't come crying to anyone because you couldn't show any compassion for the ones currently there.

While some of my fellow ASA furloughees are jumping ship to work for GoJet, I will wish them luck and hope it all works out for them. I'm gonna go do a little skiing and mabie chuck a few bags while I wait for a recall.

I'm waiting for recall and I know of at least 10 others that are also. Anything else you would like to ASSUME and pass off as a statement? It's bad enough getting furloughed, don't need someone from ASA to start talking sh1t about us (80 furloughed pilots). If you are one of the 80 and you took the GoJet deal that is your choice. Remember this, the more that leave the higher you get on the recall list. There is no reason to belittle the ones that left, they may just have other bigger obligations to face.

If you want to point a finger, take a look at FEB lines. THAT was a slap in our face. 75-94Hr Credit lines. Even some senior line holders at ASA are wondering WTH.

Agreed!!!!

Being one of the "the 80" myself, you hit the nail on the head. In the back of mind I've always understood that furloughs/etc were part of playing the airline game as far as a career goes. Through time, I've read post-after-post on APC from furloughees looking for advise, sharing their experiences, or just letting loose some concerns and feelings. Through this and by trying to prepare for this event myself I would have thought that I was fully prepared for the time I was no longer needed. I was wrong! I'm faced with daily questions concerning the complete 180 my family, myself, and our finances are going to have to address. You know the details of daily life! Many of these I had not considered before. I believe that because of my pre-laid plans my fam will be ok, but the task is enormous! Through this though I have gained a different view and RESPECT for all of those that have gone through this before me. In light of this I ask that, unless your in my shoes, offer to feed my family, or understand that one's decisions are NOT based on others beliefs but to their own family/personal obligations; then you should save your time by shutting your mouth and begin to plan for the day it could happen to you. Like Grippen said, GoJet isn't for me either, I have other plans in place, but for those of you who are headed that way BEST OF LUCK, it was great getting to know many of you, and hope things start looking better soon...

I am one of the 80......I am sticking around, hopefully tossing bags somewhere on the ATL Ramp. I did apply to be a bartender at a bowling alley yesterday!

Foot, meet mouth....I agree with Surreal, if u want 2 commit career suicide by going to GJs to 'Put food on the table' by all means do it. Just ask yourself why a company is struggling to fill classes in the worst economic crisis of our time, with thousands of pilots on the street.....

Actually they aren't having trouble filling classes and that comes from senior pilots who I know that work for GJ. Secondly you need to ask your self if they are that bad of a company why they have steady growth and why NONE of their contracts get canceled by major airlines hmmm:rolleyes:

IN the end it doesn't bother me because I'm corporate but don't bash the guys at ASA who got furloughed and are just trying to feed their two and three year olds at home. Not every one has mommy and daddy to fall back on!

JetPipeOverht 01-18-2009 05:36 PM

Senior Pilot at GJ = 1 year guy who never sat reserve and has probably done something wrong to end up there
