I don't know about those reports...Departing Saskatoon the other day they were calling MU of 25. Taxiing around and launching was a non-event. No slipping or sliding with our brake-checks. I forget exactly what we have for our Ops, but I'll look it up and get back to y'all.

From Shuttle America's GOM:
James Brake 0-7
CANADA 0-0.10
RCR (Military) 00-05
MU METER 00-17
TAPLEY 0-20
SAAB 0-20
BOWMONK 0-20
Note: Remember, when a report of braking action of NIL is given, the aircraft may not be operated on that runway.
2. Braking Action Reports- Mu Meter Readings
Upon receiving braking action reports, Pilots are reminded that runway friction conditions may have deteriorated and runway slipperiness or hydroplaning may occur.
The following table presents an approximate comparison of Mu Meter readings, corresponding braking action reports and comparable braking action reporting scales.

Note: MU Meter and braking action reports are advisory in nature only and subject to rapid change. There is no exact relationship between runway condition as measured by a Mu Meter or braking action report and the aircraft’s actual stopping capability.

Flyboy,
Thanks for the heads up on this. I have a LOFT in a month and I know the sneaky cheackairman will throw everything at me to make sure I do my flight correctly. They will probably throw this in the ATIS so again, thanks for the heads up on this. I'll let you know if I get this in the sim
you da man

Hey no problem....like i was saying there is no doubt in my mind that the majority of you guys out there can land in NIL conditions....we do train for it after all.....but...with the disusting weather we've been having this winter....and the amount of planes that have already vacated runways by unconventional means this year....why not make sure you have an out in the event the Fed's are involved?

Some airports that we fly out of ALL the time have the same old crap info such as birds in the area and LAHSO going on so they're in the last 3/4 of the report. It's easy to become complacent and forget to continue and read the WHOLE thing ... you just expect the same old stuff. Gotta push "Next Page".

As a "professional" pilot you (we) should be practicing our profession at all times.... skimming over things, and glossing over an ATIS is not the mark of a professional. However, seeing as we have so many people who improperly wear their uniforms, or walk through the terminal with the ipods hanging out of their ears while luging their bright yellow backpacks... why should anybody expect professionalism. It's a lost art.

I read them all the time!
