Yeah. In my short time at a 121 carrier I came to realize that "I heard" is just as reliable as "I think".

Obviously, I hope the rumors are true.......But I heard they are not.

it may be wise for skw just to take what they can get...maybe they can split the money with UAL. You know someone else will pay the 22mil to get the flying.

I saw an add the other day...COMAIR is hiring!!!!!! That add was dated early December too. It even said "Comair is always looking for talented professionals to join our team" I guess us 300 furloughed pilots were not talented enough:D

(I think they already pay for those adds month before they actually come out)

Just to add to all the rumors, I got this email today from a Sky West recruiter:

Dear XXXXXXXX

Thank you for your interest in a First Officer position with SkyWest Airlines. While we are currently gathering resumes, we are not actively conducting interviews at this time. Please continue to visit SkyWest Airlines - A leader among regional airlines to update your profile and receive the latest information on future opportunities.

Sincerely,

XXXXXX

I found it interesting since I applied over 6 months ago, and got an email saying I was "not selected". I just got onto skywest.com and I had 2 applications there, one "not selected" and one "application accepted"...I only applied once...hmm..

Even if SkyWest started hiring again, they would bring in their 'pool' first to training. Not sure on the exact number but think it is well over 100. If they train 20 at a time, that is a minimum of 6 months.

SkyWest won't be hiring for a while. A good indication of when they will start is after their pool is getting assigned class dates.

I think they are just gathering resumes because they intend to expand as soon as the opportunity arises. Everyone assumes that is MAG going under but I think there are a lot of other regionals that are also struggling.

If SkyWest does hire they will, according to corporate policy, transfer furloughed ASA pilots over to their certificate. Nothing contractual though.

If you had the privilege of reading the last SAPA email you'd be crazy to think hiring was possible in the near future.

Ayep...barring any miracle (add'tl flying or mgmt putting together a half-decent leave package ) we certainly will furlough come Fall.

i know. when skywests stock is nearing 7 bucks a share you know things are going down hill quick for everyone. i mean pinchanickle is barely holding on to 1 dollar.

Skywest is HIRING (FAs)! If your in such a hurry to get on with them take a FA job, it will help you get a FO seat if/when they do ever start hiring again :D Flight Attendants are great.
