I wouldn't be surprised...the girlfriend has been worked like a slave on RSV for the last few months. Word on the street is that new-hires are coming soon...

Maybe they'll let some pilots transition to FAs?

If 5' 8" is the limit then they would have to be vertically challenged. I know I'm out by 3". :p

There used to be LoL...and now that we won't be hiring like mad, maybe some standard or another will return! And I'm out by 3" as well. Darn ;)

Ayep...barring any miracle (add'tl flying or mgmt putting together a half-decent leave package ) we certainly will furlough come Fall.

This almost seems a certainty, doesn't it? I must say the latest communications from SAPA/Chip doesn't seem very positive. I just wonder how deep it is going to go, I think that is the real question. I've heard anywhere from 150-500 being tossed around. I also s'pect that it will be a quite lengthy furlough, at least a year and a half. I feel bad for the junior guys/gals....I get to fly with alot of 'em and the uncertainty of having a job must take its toll.

I also wonder about some kind of displacement bid if the above scenario becomes a reality. It's no secret that the EMB is scheduled begin leaving the fleet. With workforce and aircraft reductions (and the addition of the CR9's), there will probably have to be some sort of shifting around. I wonder if I will become an ORD commuter from FAT

The EMB's are scheduled to be replaced almost one-for-one by CR7's. The RJ's usually block more, but the pilots have a lower block limits...there will be displacements, but probably no net reduction in the need for pilots.

I was told by a SAPA rep last Friday that the numbers being thrown around are 150-250 furloughs come fall. They don't want to furlogh now because the EMBs are at normal staffing. Once they start parking them in a couple of months then we'll have an excess in that category.

Their trying to keep training cost at a minimum. I guess they've figured out it will take 9 months and $750,000 to get everyone qualified for their new seat when displacements happen. 75-125 captain downgrades was also a number I heard.

Block hours in the fall are suppose to be down 6-10% from March levels.

They may need to hire flight attendants in the near future because the junior ones are going on 2 years of reserve. With no chance of being a line holder in the future the attrition rate is high.
