Maybe they'll let some pilots transition to FAs?

UPDATE: It looks like there will be a small amount of upgrades and hiring in early 2010. I'm guessing poolies only, not new interviews.

You've piqued me interest. We seem properly staffed (if not short in some places, 30 CRJ lines in FAT with only 3 reserves) but the company hasn't alluded to the need for more pilots. Any more information?

Yes, It was confirmed today to us by company mail A CRJ captain class for 8 will be held sometime in February and another in March. Along with the 16 Captains we will be hiring sixteen new first officers. This is not bad as Skywest is one of the few companies with no furloughs. The best news is that the flight hours, block times will increase substantially 2010-2011 comparing with 2008-2009. Finally some movement.:) |
Email just came out, 16 new hires in early 2010. I also assume it will be from the pool, anyone know how many are in the pool? I emailed management for clarification on where the new-hires will be coming from, will post the info when I get a response.

Yep, looks like it's true.
Here's my question. The 16 upgrades......will it be transitions or initials? We're fat on EMB CA's and I know that all those SAN CA's have been blitzing Klen's phone. If SKW plans on keeping their EMB CA’s fully staffed, will they allow EMB CA’s to transition and then back fill them with initial EMB upgrades? Should be interesting. As for the new hires……who knows where they will come from? It’s completely wrong for the company to put new hires in the RJ class when there are so many EMB FO’s with several years of seniority that want to transition. IMO, all new hires should continue to be placed in the EMB. |
So would us ASA furloughees be able to transfer to the Skywest side?
