I too would like to thank you all for the jobs you do.As pilots you have got to have the biggest shoulders in the world and I respect the jobs you do for what many people take for granted. Godspeed to you all and yours, again, Thank you!!!
Chazzo - IF you truly do care about us pilots, why don't you let the NTSB do the "experts take on the subject" and let them conclude their investigation instead of fishing for newsworthy information on a message board???

Shame on you!!!

Go back to your cubicle and pull some news out of your a@@ like you and many of your cohorts have done so many times before...

I think you've got me wrong. i'm not here looking for newsworthy info, as a matter of fact, i agree with you(s) on the media's portrayal of the incident.I will wait for NTSB's conclusion of the incident. I do not work for any media outlet, actually my company provided heavy equipment to the crash site to help their efforts.
The only reason I even signed up for this forum was to thank the pilots and show my appreciation and respect for your(their) jobs. Many people take for granted what you(s) do on a daily basis. I had no idea saying thanks would incur any negativity.
i hope for the sake of other pilots, they arent all like you.

There has been a misunderstanding...

I can see both sides here. The media frequently comes on this board to ask open ended questions trying to get one of us to divulge speculative information on a myriad of issues... Then it suddenly is used on CNN as an Unnamed expert source...

We do not like that. You post asked for a response to a tragedy that has hit every single pilot... Every pilot regardless of airframe, company, seniority, age, gender, race, creed, or color Feels the loss of another pilot, just as if it where one of his/her close friends.

So, when you ask for a response, we begin to suspect a rat. Now, I believe you meant you were reading the threads looking for our thoughts, and If that is the case, kudos to you. The media is full of idiots. I wish there was a better term for that, but sadly, there is not one.

The pure fact that you had enough rational thought to seek independent information is quite laudable.

You will have to excuse my friends here, as they are quick to cut down the rats, as they should be. Your post was worded in such a way, that I read it three times to make sure you were not a rat.

If you really want to know what happened the best thing anyone can do, is to wait for the NTSB to tell us. Sure open discussion about what we think might have happened is perfectly ok, as long as, it stays pure thought. Unfortunatley, the media has access to this site just as we all do and can use our *thoughts* as facts.

We do appreciate you thanks and well wishes, and you are welcome on this site. Just mind how you phrase things, on very sensitive topics such as 3407.

In the end, have a good day and welcome to APC.

I think everybody on here is on edge a bit over this incident... more so than others because of how the media is handling it. Piloting as a whole profession is such a small community, even those we dont know, we consider friends. There have been several attempts over the last few days of new registered users phishing for 'insider information' on here. So many of us are leery of new users asking specific questions about the investigation.... questions that we know no fellow pilots would ask.

Thank you for deciphering what I was really getting at here. I wasn't after a response from anyone, nor did I ask any questions. I can only imagine the comaraderie amongst pilots, especially in a case like this. I mean no disrespect to anyone on this forum, just wanted to give you a thanks.

Exactly why I came here. Again, sorry to offend, and Thanks.

No offense taken, we are just touchy right now, with good reason I might add... Feel free to stick around and ask questions, trust me, Any way we can work to dispell some of the myths surrounding aviation, we would gladly welcome...

Settle down, what you have to understand, Is pilots are very much a fraternity, just like police, fire and military. Now we may not always agree, and we may get mad at each other from time to time, as youll see on these boards, but we are family. When somthing like this accident happens its hits home to all of us very hard, because we know it could have been us, so we take deep exception to people bashing our brothers and sisters without all the facts. Unfortunatly you walked in at a time when nerves among pilots are running raw right now, and weve had some media on these boards fishing for ways to take things out of context for the sake of sensationalism, thats why people are very wary of motives. I hope this helps you understand why a pilot would react that way. Ill bet that every pilot on here shed a tear and went and hugged their family friday when they heard the news. that is how close to home it hits for us. Welcome aboard....

If that's the case I sincerely apologize. I'm dismayed by all the speculations by the numerous and worthless reporters and your post made me suspicious.

Again, I'm sorry.

I didn’t take your comment personally as I can see why I offended you.

About four years ago two of my friends were involved in another commuter airline accident where they along with the 11 passengers perished.

As one of their former instructors I actually had to participate in certain parts of the investigation (deciphering voice recorder transcripts, etc.) and that’s when I found out most of the news reporters are very biased in their reporting; in fact many have come to a conclusion before they even show up at the place of the accident.
In that case, both pilots were vilified by the news media even before their bodies had been removed from the smoldering wreckage.

Therefore I will never trust a reporter and get suspicious when someone appears to be one...

hmm... weird. when I read his post I didn't interpret it as him asking for a response from his questions. Rather as him interested in how we have been responding to the current media crapola that has been floating around. I didn't see the other angle until someone snapped at him. I think he's just a lurker reading the forums to see how we are reacting to the current events so he can satisfy his curiosity. *shrug*

Well, not too long ago I believe one of the mods pulled a post that appeared to come from a reporter fishing for news... They are out there just like the rats are on every ship...

Again, I was wrong in this instance and apologized for it...
