DAL in "talks" with Boeing about the 787 (because Boeing may not be able to keep the delivery schedule).

I'm just saying....
DAL has taken deliveries of 5 of the ten 737-700s they have on order.

Will have added 10 new 777LRs by next year.

Added 16 757-200ERs.

Will most likely transfer the 787 orders to 777 orders.

I'm just sayin'..........................

It was stated in an official memo from Comair Senior VP of flight ops. First batch = 2 to ASA, 2 to Pinnacle, 1 to SKW, 1 to Mesaba. I think two planes have already left for Macon and/or Atlanta. If you start seeing ships with NxxxCA you're flying a Comair loaner. And by loaner I mean a plane you'll fly for two years then send to the desert; Comair will never see it again.

Got that right. It all starts at the top and trickles down hill. If mainline doesnt take it back, there is not going to be anywhere to go in 5 yrs. For the most part this career is about moving up the chain. If mainline keeps letting the slack out and giving up scope, there isnt going to be anything worthwhile to move on to.

It's true. In Mesaba ground school two weeks ago I asked el presidente JS how long he thought the 200s would be around. He said they have absolutely no plans to reduce the fleet. He said they were in the process of getting plans finalized for recieving at least 1 Comair 200. Never said anything about getting two from Comair. He said it would be a spare for what ever reasons we need spares.

You guys can keep em! Instead of sitting out in our used car lot here in CVG, you guys get to pick up the tab on the lease and all operational costs. They were going away anyways, at least their going to good homes instead of Victorville, CA for storage. It also keeps the FAA of our butts making sure they get flown at least one over three days!

Delta sells more planes as operations decline
By KELLY YAMANOUCHI

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Wednesday, March 04, 2009

As Delta Air Lines shrinks its operations, it sold 20 of its planes last year and has agreed to sell most of the Boeing 737-800 jets it has on order.

The sold aircraft include seven CRJ-100 regional jets, five Boeing 757-200s, four Airbus 320-200s and four DC-9-30s. Also sold were two Boeing 747-200 freighter airframes, which are aircraft without engines, and an Embraer 120 airframe, according to its annual report. The aircraft and airframes come from the fleets of Delta and its merger partner Northwest. Delta completed its acquisition of Northwest last October. The numbers don’t include Northwest’s aircraft sales before the merger.

The sale of the planes generated $123 million in proceeds, with a profit of $21 million.

Delta returned other aircraft to lessors, and nine of its aircraft are temporarily grounded or held for sale. While it removed planes from its fleet, Delta also added five Boeing 737-700s, four Boeing 757-200ERs and two Boeing 777-200LRs to its fleet.

Atlanta-based Delta reduced its fleet as it cut its capacity plans by 5 percent in the second half of 2008. The airline plans to cut its capacity by 6 percent to 8 percent this year.

Delta said it has agreements to sell 31 of the 33 Boeing 737-800 jets it has on order, which reduces its commitments by about $1.3 billion through 2011. The company excluded from its tables any orders inherited from Northwest for the new Boeing 787, saying that Boeing will be unable to meet the delivery schedule for the aircraft and Delta is “in discussions with Boeing regarding this situation.” Delta has indicated in the past that it may not keep all of the 787 orders.

The two freighter airframes come from Northwest’s fleet of 747 freighters. Northwest’s cargo operation is introducing Atlanta freighter service Wednesday with flights from Atlanta to Anchorage and onto Tokyo, Osaka and Shanghai.

If you're going to cut and paste stuff, at least give credit from where it came from, and please use current up to date information. The airframe sales and deliveries you "quoted" are old news and outdated.

I hope that I utilized the proper formatting technique. I don't have an APA manual in front of me on how to create a citation.

By the way - take note of the date on the article. Since its technically March 5, 2009, I guess the article is outdated.

My apologies.

The problem with using articles from the AJC is that the information they use can be outdated. Those aircraft numbers were from 2008 and have been outdated by the new fleet plan.
