Default Regionals

I know that this question has probably been asked a gazillion times and I know that the industry changes like the weather but in your humble opinions, which regionals are "hot" right now? Which are the best companies to work for in light of pay, flexibility, commuting, benefits, upgrades and etc.? Thanks.

Just like fashion, music, trends, restaurants, hollywood, ect just because it's "hot" now doesn't mean it will be "hot" in the future. A particular "regional" may offer good pay now, doesn't mean that it will down the road when it gets played off against another "regional" for costs and a concession occurs. Likewise with benefits, upgrades

We can't begin to really help you without some idea of what's important to you and what your near and long term goals are.

Skywest has always been stable and a good place to work, and they have good upgrade opportunities right now. Jump on that if you like the west.

My near and longterm goals are to get a job that pays good money with good benefits as i work towards a retirement at about the age of 50-55 where I can sit back and laugh at all these nonsense thoughts of mine about being an airline pilot for a living.

blakman7:

I feel that the companies that are "in the know" are CHQ and ASA. JMO.

Hey ATP,

For some reason I can't send you a private message until I have 25 posts up. Can you send me one telling me why you feel that way? Or if you want, just post it on here. Thanks.

I feel that if you jump on the bandwagon at XYZ regional with quick upgrades then you will be too late. Granted, the people at skywest who are currently upgrading have only been there a few years. If you get hired now then how long will you have to wait? Its a gamble. I say go to a place where you can be based where you want to live and enjoy the QOL somewhat. If you go to the quick upgrade regional and things dont work out then you are living in some random city stuck as an FO hating life.

I agree that you don't want to chase a quick upgrade time. That changes too frequently to really consider.

I think that ASA has weathered the storm and will survive in decent shape. We should have a much better contract TAd soon.
