You gents have you info wrong as always. The Capt was not trained at Gulfstream. They were empty... so your going to tell me with a straight face that you never have done anything different with pax and with out....I call B.S. Get your facts right before you start disrespecting the dead!

Yup I admit that I do different things when the bird is empty as opposed to when others (that includes any FA) are on board, being stupid with my life is one thing, being stupid with someone elses is entirely different.
However, bottom line is that while I have had enjoyed some liberties with an empty cabin my life is far more important to me then "seeing what she can do" or "giving it a try", for that matter its more important then keeping my job and/or certificate.
I don't mean to disrespect the dead here but at some point there are only two options to draw conclusions from:
1) one of two pilot pulls their head outta their ass and does something during the long long chain of bad ideas to fix the problem or
2) they are both idiots that got exactly what their actions deserved (this is a classic example or every action has an opposit and equal reaction)

I know that sounds harsh and IMO their idiot problem isn't that they went to FL410 and flamed out the engines, its that they tried to cover it up, wasted 14 mins before they lied to ATC, still tried to cover it up and then didnt do what was required of them. They had 41,000 feet to find an airport!!!!!! I'm not happy they died nor do I wish it on anyone, but to overlook their mindset and complete disrepect for the airplane is outright foolishness. They were the only cause of their death and they have noone to blame but themselves.

talk about the AD and stop bashing on two folks that died flying an airplane...

give a few more weeks and you may make some boneheaded mistake that kills you...

it never fails to amaze the people on this forum that have themselves convinced they have died and come back and have something to tell...

talk about the AD on the seals...

Bombadier said the engines could be restarted if the aircraft remained above 240 knots. Also, all the engines were tested to prove this was indeed the case.

Is this AD going to ensure the engines can restart even without maintaining 240knots?

With a straight face -

In six years and over 30 ferry flights I have never done anything I wouldn't do with passengers aboard, with one exception - fly with the flight deck door open.

Of course I wasn't the one "disrespecting" the dead Pinnacle test pilots, so your post may not apply to me.

Ultimately, just as 5191 taught us to check runway heading, 3701 teaches us that ferry flights are not the same as daddy loaning us the keys to the Corvette.

Mistake? This accident was caused by blatant disregard for company policies and standards, not a mistake. If you want to buy a multi-million dollar aircraft, go ahead and fly it as you wish. If you are trusted to fly someone else's multi-million dollar aircraft, in a way that the owner has trained you to operate it, then you are supposed to operate it that way (at all times). From the time this aircraft took off, it was not flown to company standards.
If you want to be stupid, find a job where stupidity does not wind up killing you or others around you. If you do not like "following the rules" then quit and go somewhere else. Aviation is not a place for you. (not directed at anyone in particular)

This was not an honest mistake that any of us could have made. Only a very select few...

They tried very hard to get themselves into trouble, and after they succeeded they tried to hide the fact from ATC by not telling them, by not descending at the specified speed for relight, and by not pointing towards an airport.

Why would you do anything different?
