ive tried the x'11's... and i already have the bose... they were a gift thankfully. to me the x11's are no comparison except they have the extra jacks that i want. I tried the zulus as well and they were nice; but nothing compares in comfort to the bose X... thats just my opinion

BTW: here are the pieces you need for the Radio Shack solution:

6-Ft. Shielded Cable, 1/8" Plug to 1/4" Stereo Plug - RadioShack.com

Gold-Plated 1/4" Stereo Headphone Plug Adapter - RadioShack.com

Total price 11.98, does the same thing as the 35 dollar version linked about except its 2 pieces instead of one. Also alternativley use the following if you want a longer cord:
3-Ft. Gold-Plated 1/4" Stereo Headphone Y-Adapter - RadioShack.com

Ok since we are talking headset mods, does anyone know anything or have any experience with the kit that turns DC's into ANR headsets. They have a whole new speaker setup that goes in the earcups, and it is supposed to be a do it yourself mod. ANR Kit Order. Anyone done this to their headsets?

While the Bose are the most expensive, I actually bought mine when I was a starving flight instructor... reason? I was flying at least 8 hrs a day and my flightcoms were giving me bad headaches.. I didn't have $400-$700 for a decent comfy ANR headset.

BUT at the time Bose was offering NO-interest financing! Worked out to a very manageable $85 a month... plus they threw in a cool leather lined PNR headset to use with laptop/ipod etc.

I don't know if they are still doing that, but it was well worth it to me, been very happy with the bose

yeah they are still doing this... the fiancee bought mine this way in december. only takes a couple months to pay it off... or a year at 85 bucks a month. usually comes with a free gift to.. mine came with their 100 dollar set of earbuds. no interest or credit check either.

I'd keep your DC's original. I did this mod and wish I hadn't. Yes they reduce the noise but its not that great. I also got feedback while I was using them sometimes. The loud, piercing, squealing sound that causes hearing loss and PAIN. I probably wired it wrong.

Thanks for your input, I kinda thought that the kit price was a bit overpriced for what it is, but I definatly dont want to put up with unexpected squeal for sure...Listening to a stuck mike on freq is bad enough

I agree with Seatownflyer, don't think the ANR kits are of very good quality. I received one of those ANR kits as a birthday present when I was a student pilot years ago. I had wanted one to spice-up my old David Clark 60's. I'm pretty savvy with electronics so I installed it all myself (they do offer to install it for you if you send it in for a price). Worked fine for about 6-months, then the cups went silent. Ran a tester on it and the speakers were shot. Got it replaced and it soon crapped-out again. Took it apart a second time, found another elec problem. Never put it back together. Bought a stock DC with ANR and was very happy with it while I was flying props (couldn't afford the Bose). Now I just use a Telex 850, love it. Just my 2-cents...
